I bought this book because of the good recommendations and the various references to other sci-fi authors whose books I like to read. Well, what can I say: It does have all the relevant stuff a book in this genre needs (originality, weird but likable characters, good pace and humor) but still: I have to say the last two hours I repeatedly looked at my iPod to check how much longer there is to go ...
The narration was very good though.
While other readers / listeners complain about the slow pace until the last third I actually enjoyed the beginning more than the end which seemed like a mixture of sci-fi horror mystery action movie. Until then the story about strange characters living in a weird building is admittedly slow but easy to follow, at times even fun. I don’t know any other books from this author but “14” was convincing enough to give it a try if something else from him comes along the way.
The narration was excellent. Kudos to give voice to so many different characters in one go!
Mediocre story, told in a mediocre pace and with a mediocre end. The title is misleading: I expected a thriller but the focus was on dissecting the various relationships and individual intentions of the several characters. It was not bad entirely, maybe the crime “packaging” is simply not the best marketing for this book.
Narration is okay.
Enjoyable romantic novel, the author delivers what is expected of this genre. However, I had some troubles with the end: Even though you know what’s going to happen, the story comes to such an abrupt end that I initially thought my iPod skipped a chapter!
Narration is OK.
Perfect romance plot and an easy listen. Likable characters, good pace and a happy end.
Narration very well done. A narrator for each character makes for a pleasant change.
Very slow in the beginning but worth every minute. Perfect pace, kept me hooked, the final chapters I had to do in one turn. Excellent work of light fiction, can highly recommend it.
The writing called for two narrators who did their job perfectly.
Had a good start but the story got halfway through out of control. Got the impression that the author wasn’t quite sure which genre to stay in.
Narration was fine, however, a bit overdone particularly in regards to the accents.
The book suffers from quite a number of flaws: Unlikeable characters, not character development, either brutal or cheesy with no immediate effect on the story but just for the sake of it. The plot drags on and on with no real highlight and has a predictable end. Also, the frequently used IT terms got on my nerves. - It’s an author’s job to do research but I don’t want to read about it in the finished book.
I liked the narration a lot and it definitely helped me to finish the book.
Well equipped young man and many, many women. There is not much more to say.
Interesting and highly entertaining interpretation of Shakespeare’s play. No comparison to the lines we all had to read in school!
Richard Armitage’s reading is phenomenal: Listening to him is a sensual experience.
