I have never given a single star, until today.
Sci-fi & Fantasy has not been the right place for Anita Blake for awhile now. The once great bastion for female might is nothing more than an excuse for unimaginative sex. All plot devices, and possibilities are left by the side (Mistaken Identity and other great starts just flushed away). Even the sex scenes that might be interesting, or adventurous come across as written by someone who has only heard about these activities. Stereo instructions have more to offer than these bland, reused sex scenes from the past six books.
One last problem is there is only so much a person can suspend our disbelief. Twenty men waiting to take their turn without the slightest bit of envy, or competition anxiety might be a wet dream for the heaving breasts, and throbbing member crowd but has no business in this genre. Please bring plot back into the books, because gratuitous sex can only be used so much before it becomes boring. Readers cannot live on sex alone, as nice as the thought would be.

Brian, the hate I bear thee can afford no better term than this,--thou art a villain. I shall weep endlessly and with remorse at reading your awesome book! Idling away a year's time till book two is released (Feb 2014) is an excruciating Ecstasy!

The characters. A flawed bitter old man that does the right thing for the wrong reason. A scarlet woman who wants to earn back her place. A fatherless young man who must work under the new commander of his country, his father. The family man who must choose between his family or his country. A cast of other characters who will dance the jig for you at the end of Brian's fingers to be entransed by. The stage is not lacking!!

Best unexpected rockstar purchase so far of 2013.

I am glad that these loose ends in Jo's life were finally brought to light and put to bed. This book did feel a bit contrived. I loved Morrison in this book, he is perfect for Jo.

How can you not love Petite doing a super Dukes of Hazard? The cliff hanger was awesome, well done, and a perfect hook into the next book.

I would say that putting to rest some of the daddy issues, and the issues of the twins might make Jo a little less difficult to deal with in the future. These issues, while bound to who she is and fundamental in her growth were becoming a bit of an EMO element in the story line.

I have always enjoyed C.E. Murphy's writing in this series. I enjoy her colorful and sometimes outrageous characters. She does a beautiful job of bringing people like Jo's son and Billy who some people's prejudice might make them cringe into beautiful light and makes it hard for even the most closed minded to dislike. Beautifully done!!

Are you kidding me? I am a HUGE Gabra Zackman fan. I often will pick books based purely on her narration! Nothing wrong with her performance!

I really dislike these we're going to make you fill out a form reviews. I have been doing these reviews since 2000 and would love to say what I want about a book not what you want to hear.

I enjoyed the play between the two characters and the normal narrator. This series is perhaps the most consistant,and entertaining of many in the Paranormal.

Suprisingly not much.

I loved the strenght of the female characters.. She wasn't about to put her sister in danger. Cared strongly for her future and saw this as a business job that takes her ona roller coaster. Who hasn't lived that sad story.

Well done, enjoyed. Loved the contiuation of the original Narrator who really knows how to work Molly Harper to the best. Ronconi has one of the best, underrated voices in the business. She is snark, classy and bad to the bone when her characters need it. She makes the audiobooks... but Molly Harper's paperbacks are a delight as well.

The stength of the previous stories was the combination of the story moving forward, and the wonderful narrator. The addition of the new narrator while adding too many changes didn't create a congruent transition between the two.

It is always understandable that a new Narrator will bring slight changes, but the Names, and titles of characters names changes enough to make it hard to follow. It was painful, and I believe a Narrator should make their own forage into the book but at the expense of irritating the returning customers just makes things difficult. I believe this could have been averted with just a little effort, or training on the new Narrator's behalf.

Which isn't to say she was a horrible narrator. I enjoyed her voice. There were just too many times that the broken congruency as difficul and required re-winding and re-listening to figure out what the new Narrator whas covering.

All in all it would have been better suited as a spin off.

I was disapointed in the narration and the lack of furthering the long list of story lines that made next to no advancements.

What is going on between Jeff and his honey.
What is going on with the Wizards. I don't buy that they believe their story that he would be what brings it down, but that I believ they knew he would slow the progression over what every experiment he forsaw. I believe that is the real reason he was kicked to the curb.

I enjoyed the addition of the Archive and her ability to think strongly and her new relationship with the Librarian. I want MORE!

Go to original narrator, when you spin off use the new Narrator because she is well verced in the art and it wouldn't be so difficul if it was another character because that would allow the subtle shift in a new character that otherwise just bugs the dickins out of same characters.

I want more of the pack. I like them.

I want more of her grandfather, and I want his department to be infused to all the non humans, creating a new Non human and trans human police force. Between the Merit Police pressure and the Merit Billion I think this would work out well. I am in no way ready to give up,but I have reached the nervous area. I want to see it pull it all out.

Live the New Cadigan House, which I hope will ne re-named Sulivan house since it is under re-birth. Eventually, Merit house funded by daddy, and supported by Sullivan house... entirely OUTSIDE the Gp would be the way to go. I want the GP to show up and see the groups of houses standing strong, together and ready to say... No taxation without representation GP. So we, the Vampires of the house of the US have devided that you no longer have the best interested in our well being. You have no business but the status quo, and today and life is evolving too quickly. We move fast,we will survive. I think Cadigan, grey and jerk hole's house would be best to make allergience to the new Mayer as soon as the psycho is out of office and degailr they are CHICAGO vampires. Here to protect Vampires, and if they re-iinstitute the Umbuds office as a checks and balance and center they could endear themselves to all but the undecided, and the jerk holes.

The Super Natureal Swat team. They would train with the local Police office. Helping eachother, being called in on tough jobs and seen as a dependable resource headed by a trusted Merit, slightly paid by the Merrit family.. because daddy dearest owes some serious buck to make up for a slight part of his distruction of the life she believed she loved. Perhaps she now has a life she felt she was born to, but she has always missed what she was working so hard. Daddy dearest need another talking to.

I actually listened to it twice to gather up some things I missed.

The well developed magic and mech world.

very proficiant narrator.

It as temping, but I read it in two.

I felt we really missed from some of Lilith Saintcrow's normal strenght. I believe she can thrive in this new Genre but she felt a little timid and if she spent more time in a few books I believe her talent, her tenacity and fanbase has the potential to make this a sucsessful series. As a first venture into a new Genre she has shown serious fundamental strengths in what appears to be a new series in a new Genre.

I don't think it would matter much. This felt too much like the first and second books in regards to the relationship. Really just disgusted me.

Interesting? That the man who said he would stick behind her. Who would love her, and accepted who she was ended up being such a weakling. I always thought he was a better, stronger man than that. He is in business. He should be able to see the limited choices and understand... but I feel like he was thinking with the wrong organs.

I am not sure she provides anything other than pacing at this point. When I read the paperback all I could do was hear her characters voice in my head. She makes such a great addition and is a true value to the characters and the series.

One step forward, two steps back. For the first time we see the chink and weekness in Owen's armor. It is really disapointing.

The Prose was rather simplistic but you slowly lose the feeling of being peached at after a chapter or two.

The ending was rather predictable, but the struggle made it worth while.

The Narrator did a great job. Nice inflections and her repitior of characters voices was well played.

It ended well, and there is no REASON to continue. Doubtless if enough sold it will be continued.

The early prose were difficult to get past, but the overall story was well enough to keep us entertained.

The narrator had the snide and world weary voice to pull off Sandman's voice.

I enjoyed the fact that Sandman seems more willing to take advice. His great grandfather gives him some much needed, which comes down to choose your battles. So Sandman chooces all of column A and all of Collumn B.

His voice reached through the earbuds enfusing Sandman's voice with the weariness of a man who is stuck in a dead end job he didn't want. A long walk behind him, and still many miles to go. He also really had down the blistering coldness of his voice when Sandman was at his most dangerous.

Keep your kids at home, this isn't Daddy and Grand Daddies hero.

Recently Sandman Slim has been left in charge of "Downtown" as the new Satan. Being seen by the fallen Angels (now demons) as the Monkey in charge hasn't left him many friends. His Angelic half is off causing problems back in LA, The Demon hordes want to put the monkey in his place and if it wasn't for the final gift of the Previous Satan (The Magic Armour) he would be dead several times over.

That isn't at the top of Sandman's mind though. He made a promise to girl... Three days in Hell and he would be back. So as the clock strikes three months he is pretty sure he will be returning to an angry girlfriend and what ever else his "Goody Goody version of himself has been up to."... So Stabilize Hell, track down an arrant half Angel with delusions of adequacy and check in on all the other people who have undoubtedly taken advantage of Sandman Slim's absence.

No rest for the wicked, and as always the reward for a job well done is always more work. Sandman cuts a bloody sloth through both the underworld and LA to remind people that he carries (His weak pistol, his Flaming Sword and a boot he has no problem breaking off in the backsides of those who stand in his way.) Oh, did we mention all the wicked cool Satan powers he inherited? Well, time to say good bye to some backstabbing hell spawn and see about fixing what ever has gone wrong in LA. I mean, let's face it. It's LA!!! SOMETHING must have gone wrong.

As always the book is gritty, and bloody. Sandman takes advice from his great grandfather to choose his battles more carefully. As usual he chooses all of column A and B! Hell, a nephelim has to also keep himself entertained while he kicks ascii and takes names!

This isn't the best in the series, but it reads well if you are caught up on the series. The story doesn't pull punches and there appears to be, as expected no current happy ending for our Dark Assassin Hero.(less)

Brandon Sanderson's adds some new and needed life to the series, but falls just short of a Coup d'?tat.

First the good. Quick well written prose, witty dialog, and great pace are just a few of the much needed infusions that Mr. Sanderson brought to the table. His characters read, moved and were brought to life with a deftness that hearkens to the early books in the series.

Then comes some bad. Egwene Al'Vere. I think Sanderson must have had a childhood crush on her, because she can do no wrong! While every other character in the book walk through challenges and come out moving forward Egwene lost some dimension in the book for her complete lack of believability. She doesn't do anything wrong, not a single step, which detracts from such an important character.

There was only a little Matt, and Perrin but enough to say that I feel the characters are still Jordaneske, and commend Sanderson on his ability to effectively continue the characters in a very Robert Jordan voice. The Aviendha and Faile scenes were a little weak, and I think all their smarts and moves somehow transferred to Egwene. It was nice to see some of the threads come slowly, but very organically to conclusion. I think that is perhaps the best reason for the three book ending.

As always I love Michael Kramer and Kate Reading and cannot get enough of their narrations. All in all a great first step in the continuing Wheel of Time series. Fans will eat it up.. maybe we could tone down the Egwene Al'Vere's super can do no wrong, but we hope not at the expense of the whole Web.

I have been a Rachel Vincent fan since the inception of the first werecat book, Stray. I have enjoyed each moment of the tale as Faythe Sanders (protagonist) learns the ins and outs of her relationship and her never ending mistakes (some of the relationship kind, some not). I was sorely tempted to give this book only three stars, because the relationship tussle between Marc and Jayce has become a distraction from the story which has only gotten more interesting.

Faythe's books have been rife with her personal issues involving her love life....s and the mistakes she makes. Again, and again. It has come to a point where it has become a distraction to the rest of the story which has picked up and become fully engaging instead of the I cannot make up my mind, or poor me story themes that many of the previous books lived off of.

This book had personal tragedy layered on top of accident on top of betrayal. It was great to see Faythe grow up so much since even the last book (except in her ability to fix her relationship). I look forward to reading, or listening to the future adventures of Faythe Sanders but with a council's inward bickering, perhaps war. With inter relationships are jockeyed for position it has become a let down to have to endure the sophomoric love life that Ms. Vincent writes.

While perhaps one of the better additions to the library of Faythe Sanders "werecat" collection it could also be the straw that breaks the werecat's back. If we could move on, and resolve the relationship drama for the protagonist there is still so much left that is interesting to fill volumes of this ever increasingly Machiavellian tale. So many extra-Faythe relationships to crush on and play with. Let us let this part of Faythe grow up as well, and make the story all that better in the future. Check this book out, and hope Ms. Vincent keeps the direction she has started, and drops the teenage angst for these almost 30ish something toys.
