Absolutely fascinating subject. The book has a good pace, and is well written. While I do agree that a heavier-hand by an editor could have improved the book, the detailed approach is a small price to pay for this biography. Worth the read -

I am a huge Dickens fan, and given their similar writing styles how I missed this author all these years I do not know. But I am happy now to have found him now, and this performer is fantastic. I am not in love with the ending - and his other book "The Woman In White" is a better story - but this is definitely worth the time. The man could really write ~

I loved the book, and thought the narration/performance was brilliant. I loved Hildie, flaws and all - and the narrator made the book come alive. It was a delight ~ !

I had to try this book twice - the opening is a bit slow but once you are through the set-up it is fantastic. Great characters, intriguing story, interesting story telling - highly recommend it.

If you are looking for a book with no plot and a lot of 'tell me' writing, incluing what the 'dog' is thinking - this is your book. Not at all for me.

This is a fantastic book with a very unsatisfactory ending. With a decent ending, this would be a five.

This book is a unique, unusual and intriguing thriller. Grisham uses his legal knowledge in a new and addictive way – he can pace a thriller like no other writer. I like the narrator, and think over time he will be a 5 star, but at the moment the pace is just a bit too slow. Well worth the listen ~ S
