Two weeks before Christmas, Dr. Diana Duprey is found floating face-up in a small lap pool in her back yard. A medical doctor with an abortion practice, and a national figure who inspired passion and ignited tempers, she had been the target of violent threats by right-to-life activists. Her husband, Frank Thomson, a lawyer in the district attorney's office, fought bitterly with her on the morning of her murder. To reveal the nature of their argument would cost him his career, and more.

As a mystery this book was way too predictable! This may satisfy you if you like romance with a murder and some lame detecting by the local police.
The narrator's voice was a bit annoying ? good for commercial voice overs with a direct message, but several characters seemed like a real stretch.

Would you try another book from Ken Follett and/or Eric Lincoln?

I like Follett and he didn't disappoint, although it's not his best book. The main narrator was good, but the female was terrible and even worse when she did the voice of the child. It was completely jarring when she first appeared—Audible gave no notice that there are multiple performers here and I think it's a bit of a dupe by them.

Camp David, USA. A birthday party turns into a nightmare when a child is snatched after the celebrations. The First Lady enlists the services of Sean King and Michelle Maxwell to bring the child home safely. But she and King share a past. Years ago he saved her then senator husband from political disaster. And this may not be all that passed between them. With Michelle still battling her own demons, the two are pushed to the limit, with forces aligned on all sides against them.

    "Bad Sound Effects"
    Overall

The only thing that made the slow, drone of the narrator tolerable, were the cheesy sound effects distracting from dramatic moments. This made radio dramas of the 1940s sound brilliant. *Sigh* The story was a bit predictable, too. I'd give this two and a half stars if I could.

But John Corey, an ex-NYPD detective who is now a contract agent with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force, is persuaded by Kate Mayfield, his wife and task force partner, that the case deserves a second look.

Ms Discus says: "Addictive mix of fact & intriguing storyline"
    "Lame ending"
    Overall

This is the first DeMille novel that was disapointment. The story was good, as was the narration, but it was as if DeMille had written himself into a corner. If you value your time, you'll want to listen to the abridged version-or skip this one.
