This was my first Tom Clancy book I've listened to, and loved it. It was difficult at times to try and remember the pile of cast members, and the jumping around style took me a while to get used to, but after a while, the style seemed tight and clear. The reader, Michael Kramer is incredible . .either he's incredible, or they actually used 5 or so different people doing the voices.
The story was full of the action I heard Tom Clancy was so well known for, and I felt like the story balanced and pulled together each of the story lines together nicely.
It's 4 stars only because I had to concentrate while listening, and had to backup all the time and re-listen to sections :-)
Incredible massive story, and it starts very fun; albiet somewhat slowly. Michael Kramer and Kate Redding are fantastic readers.
Michael's Loial's voice (the Ogier) is dang near perfection - I think the slight change in his voice gives the character the perfect depth and I find I wait for Loial to talk more, so I can hear the performance!
I'm a sucker for Reacher novels, and this one was great. I loved finally hearing Reacher's last interaction with the army, and to see some of his habits start (folding tooth brush, hitch hiking etc). It was very fun - Lee Child does seem to use somewhat of a 'too coincidental' story model, but it seems to work; it seems like he tells the stories where things simply are coincidental; although his character, Reacher himself would be suspicious. In any event, it was a solid Reacher novel.
