Too much dialogue that respects not have any other purpose than to be funny, where cops whining over savings or officers, as their only purpose seems to be to bring the jokes.
McBride is actually good at writing such conversations. But when this continues indefinitely but will be wearing this. Ceases to function as comic relief, and gets a bit silly
5 stars, and more if was possible
The plot, the basic idea had all that a book of this genre needs. A bit more editing and it would have been a great book, not just OK
I am a fan of Deon Meyer. This book was therefore a big turn of, fellt like Meyer's muse must heve been on vacation when he wrote this one.
The characters i like so much were there but the story was dreadfully boring and uninteresting, and the diolougs, well cliche upon cliche.
I loved it and I will litsten to it again. This series is exellent and I look forward to the next innstallment of Department Q.
So that you know where i am coming from, this and the Hole series is are my favorit series in the Scandinavian genre these days.
Some people have commented on the narration and if you listend to, and liked Nevill's earlyer books narrated by Gerrard Doyle you should listen to the sample and see how you like Smyth's narration and it would not have been fitting to have Doyle narrating this one, it is not a part of the Jack Lennon series.
The story is gripping and I recommend it for all Neville fans
I found this story uninteresting, predictable and uninspired, like the author squeezed the story out of a dry lemon. Though protagonists were boring and predictable the story newer quite got so boring that I gave up on it, and I always expected it to take of somehow. The narration was better than the story, and may be the reason why I managed to listen through the whole book
Beutifull, exiting, funny, sad, strange, mistery, and a social critique. Vikas Swarup is a master storyteller. The narrator is perfect and makes no mistakes.
I highly recommend this wonderful book
I really like Simon Vance and he does not miss a beat. Tihis is a good mistery with well writen characters.
This is an exellent book, whitt and humor ala Ben Elton. If you liked his works you'll like this one.
If you are a into Morse this one is a must listen
