It was. Not the most exciting book of the series, but essential to the story and well written as usual.
Roy, Roy, Roy... It's as though he forgot about the first three books when he did this. Characters names are not only pronounced differently than in the previous books (the first 3 books were all pretty consistent), but he even uses different pronunciations within a paragraph! It's really distracting and for someone like Roy Dotrice, very unprofessional. He obviously didn’t go back and review his prior performances before doing this. Also the voices have changed. Whereas he previously used a different accent for high-born folk and base-born folk, he now mixes it up. Arya now sounds like a poor haggard old beggar woman, and Sam's voice does a poor job of conveying his personality. Let's hope Roy did some review before recording book 5. VERY disappointing.
I would rather read this book since I more or less have Roy's original voices and pronunciations in my head. It would be much less distracting and I would enjoy the book more. Had I not already paid for the audio copy I probably would have done just that. If you listened to the first 3 narrated by Roy Dotrice, I would recommend you read book 4 if you have the time and inclination. You will be glad you did.
