George Wilson, M.D., a radiology resident in Los Angeles, is about to enter a profession on the brink of an enormous paradigm shift, foreshadowing a vastly different role for doctors everywhere. The smartphone is poised to take on a new role in medicine, no longer as a mere medical app but rather as a fully customizable personal physician capable of diagnosing and treating even better than the real thing. It is called iDoc. George's initial collision with this incredible innovation is devastating.

Would you try another book from Robin Cook and/or George Guidall?

I can't stand the narrator! He sounds like an old man with mush in his mouth. No enunciation, just rushed reading. Every single voice sounded the same. He must be Cook's grandfather. Cook needs to be really careful who he allows to narrate his books. His writing is average so he needs someone to infuse that extra oomph, not detract from the little that is in the book.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robin Cook? Why or why not?

I might when I'm in the mood for sensational tabloid writing.

Would you be willing to try another one of George Guidall’s performances?

No way - that old man needs to retire.

What character would you cut from Cell?

    This question is irrelevant.

The fate of the world is more fragile than ever as Pures battle Wretches and former allies become potential enemies. Inside the Dome Patridge has taken his father's place as leader of the Pures. His intent had been to bring down the Dome from the inside with the help of the secret resistance force led by Partridge's former teacher Glassings. But from his new position of power, things don't seem quite as clear. Perhaps his father had been right.

The ending was abrupt and not explained. What happens to the dome people at the end? To the Mothers, the wretches? Does Weed use the cure? Do the beasts & Dusts just kill everyone off? What about Pressia's father? Seems like the author got lazy and rushed through the ending.

Penniless Elinor is rather surprised at the carriage that meets her from the stage, and more so at the decayed grandeur of the house to which she's transported. Realising that there has been a case of mistaken identity she agrees to an audacious plan.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I like the story but the whining, totally unlikeable main character makes it hard going. She's sickening to say the least.

Has The Reluctant Widow turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but I'm "Reluctant" to read another book by this author.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scenes with the dog. lol!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    No!

In Amped, people are implanted with a device that makes them capable of superhuman feats. The powerful technology has profound consequences for society, and soon a set of laws is passed that restricts the abilities - and rights - of "amplified" humans. On the day that the Supreme Court passes the first of these laws, 29-year-old Owen Gray joins the ranks of a new persecuted underclass known as "amps." Owen is forced to go on the run, desperate to reach an outpost in Oklahoma where, it is rumored, a group of the most enhanced amps may be about to change the world - or destroy it.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A well developed fleshed out plot would have helped a lot.

What was most disappointing about Daniel H. Wilson’s story?

It had no depth. The story was rushed and implausible. This is the second book I've read by this author and both were good but poorly executed plots.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Robbie Daymond?

    Yes he was okay.

What character would you cut from Amped?

    They were all shallow.

    Any additional comments?

I won't waste any more of my time commenting about such poor writing.

If you could sum up The Blood Sugar Solution in three words, what would they be?

    No more sugar!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Blood Sugar Solution?

The realization that diet is the crucial role in staying healthy hit me for the first time like a ton of bricks.

Have you listened to any of Mark Hyman, M.D.???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No, first time.

In a landlocked galaxy that tunnels through our own, the Entire is a bizarre and seductive mix of long-lied quasi-human and alien beings gathered under a sky of fire, called the "bright". A land of wonders, the Entire is sustained by monumental storm walls and an exotic, never-ending river. Over all, the elegant and cruel Tarig rule supreme. Into this rich milieu is thrust Titus Quinn, former star pilot.

The story is so well written, the world building so interesting. I read all three books in the series and Kay Kenyon is an amazing writer. The stories had me sitting in my car after work, unable to shut off my ipod. Sci-fi at it's best.

Story was okay and that's being generous. I was upset that audible let this author get away with charging 2 credits for this book when I've read much better and longer audio books for the normal 1 credit. Let me assure you this book is not worth 2 credits. It just goes on and on. Again, it's just okay.

In celebration of the week-long, once-in-a-decade rite of Apert, the fras and suurs prepare to venture outside the concent's gates - opening them wide at the same time to welcome the curious "extras" in. During his first Apert as a fra, Erasmus eagerly anticipates reconnecting with the landmarks and family he hasn't seen since he was "collected". But before the week is out, both the existence he abandoned and the one he embraced will stand poised on the perilous brink of cataclysmic change.

    Overall

I wanted to like this audiobook, but it was boring with one dimensional, unlikable characters. Ten hours into the book the plot was still murky. The minutiae was excruciatingly boring. Stephenson rambled on and on like chalk screeching on a blackboard. I stuck it out to the end, but please, don't waste a credit on this audiobook. It's not worth the listen.

Christy Award-winner Jamie Langston Turner pens another inspiring tale of forgiveness and redemption in this well developed novel. This emotional story delves into the complexities of family relations and religious devotion. Her grandmothers funeral brings Celia Coleman back to that small Georgia town that she swore never to step in again.

    "Mind Numbing!"
    Overall

It was a mind numbing listen with the most uninteresting, extraneous minutiae. The characters were boring and unlikable. As hard as I tried, I could not drum up any feeling but faint distaste for the main character. This writer throws any and everything into the story. Never mind that most of the details add nothing to the storyline. It was a waste of a credit and believe me I am not an overly picky reader - I like lots of different genres. Although it felt like torture, I listened to the entire book. I'm like that - I can't waste money. But please skip over this book and go for something like "Redeeming Love "by Francine Rivers. That's a story with depth, emotion and spirituality.
