King at his best. Craig Wasson did a great job narrating. Altogether a top notch listening experience.
The story has an interesting premise but it left me disappointed. The book is filled with graphic descriptions of violence but I found myself growing bored with the numerous fights with little character development. My acid test when reading a book is whether I developed an interest in the characters and their outcomes. As I listened I found myself not caring whether a character survived at the end and whether they succeeded in their efforts. It is an OK listen but based on its reviews I was expecting more.
Some books are better read than listened to. This is one of those books. This isn't one of Mr. King's better efforts but certain aspects of the book appeal to me. When I saw it available on Audible I thought I'd take the opportunity to listen to Eli W.'s reading. He did a fair job but as many others have commented before me, the music gets in the way.
