The first 4-5 hours are difficult to endure. Lots of character introductions and scene setting. But if you can hang through this, you will find this a charming, quirky, funny novel.
The main charcter is loveable and quite endearing. I felt I was in India along with Dar and the Duckworthians. The author gave me such a feel for the characters. He made me care about their antics in this mysterious country. Now I want to visit India and see the Royal Circus.
I usually like this author very much, but this one dragged on and on. I stuck it out until the end hoping for something worthwhile to happen and sadly it was all for naught. The main characters were either about as deep as a mudpuddle or just trite and boring. Don't waste your credit.
Please tell me that this is not a book written by one of my favorite authors. Where is the dorky loveable hero? Why is the narrator so annoying? And why is the storyline just not good? This is one to skip, sorry to say.
This book has it all! Loveable animals, the kind hero, scary bad guys,a beautiful girl and lots of suspense.
The narrators were terrific. The author puts us on the circus train; our hearts with the characters. You will love this book and want to give it to your friends.
