I love Pat Conroy...Love his books. When I could still read books I this one and loved it. It is tragic and awesome and epic. Beautifully written. Loved the interview Audible did with this writer.
After my first listen this narrator was good, sounds southern but he just talks too fast when the characters are talking to one another. That being said I have criticized narrators before and regretted it. I really appreciate the work they do.
Pat Conroy is timeless and his writing eternal. He will make you laugh and cry and break your very heart. Historically worldwide these things either break you or you perservere. I believe you can enjoy this book.
If you have never suffered a loss so horrible you cannot accept the reality, you may think this is beyond what can happen. I can't say I enjoyed this book, I figured it out pretty early on, but I had to know what happened to the characters. I believe this story was well written and well narrated.
Easy by Tammara Webber, sort of.
She is a very very good narrator. I have listened to her in several stories. She is easy to listen to and gives each person a voice allowing me to separate the characters easily.
Yes, I cried. I laughed too.
Worth the credit. I admit the titled bothered me until I the light bulb went off and I realized "Flat Fin".
Rankings are hard, let's see. I am pretty sure I will listen to it again even if just to listen to Caroline Lee. This is my favorite book about Paris and actually living there. I have bought several and found them trite, boring or ridiculous. Somewhere in the top 100, for now.
The 40th birthday party for Frederic. Vacationing with him in Australia...hilarious. The job covering fashion week. Her interview with the designer. The party where she gave up on the hosts and served the champagne.
Caroline Lee is among my top 5 narrators. She elevates everything she reads. I absolutely love her voice. She is able to bring a story to life.
I believe the total work from her struggle to decide to move there, and everything she endured and grew from each experience she found herself. I admired her tenacity I know I would have left. I am certain it was her love for Frederic but she didn't really talk about that very much.
I enjoyed this book, I measure that by whether I am able to listen straight through or I stop it often. I listened to this pretty much straight thru, I asked myself if it was the narration or the story. I enjoyed it and it doesn't really matter. It was memorable, I will listen to it again. Worth the credit. Thank you.
I hate this submissive crap. Please girls don't be brainwashed.
self respect does not come in this package. I don't like this trend, I don't like young women thinking this is the way to be treated. I love excitement as much as the next person but this is not the path. I bought this for I think 2.00, not worth a nickel.
I have been looking for books based in France. Being severly visually impaired I loved the concept presented of a 16 year old blind girl, her father built a replica of Paris, she memorized it. Only in a book. But this book was about mans inhumanity to man/women/children, I couldn't handle it. It was mental suffering for me, also I couldn't keep some the characters separated. For me, it was just too depressing.. the writing seemed good. I couldn't handle the content.
I don't think I realized how short this story was...I may not have wanted to use a credit for it. However it was worth the credit for the pleasure. Loved this narrator hope I hear her again. This is a fantasy and it allows you to enjoy it. I loved it. Rock star happens to meet girl...love at first sight. Dreamy.....
The storyline is not a new. But it has a different angle I guess. I just really enjoyed the love story part of these two characters. I am not so young so the sex became a bit much. I wanted to know how they worked things out. It is worth the credit. A good listen. A good narrator. I love good dialog and this one was good.
I enjoyed this book. It was about a magical lineage. I found it to be quite interesting. 3 women, their lives, the challenges. It was a really good storyline. The narrator was also very professional. I liked it and it was worth the credit but something I cannot put my finger on was missing. I have no idea what. I listened in one sitting. The beginning captured me.
Good story but not memorable. This book takes on an old legend of the seals. It reminded me of a lot of books from my 20's and that was a while ago. It was good, the author knew how to bring it to a tense climax! Worth the credit, Good narration.
I am not always a series person. Stage Dive is so good. Each story has its similarities but the differences are more interesting. The dialog is smart and sharp. Love this strong, independent women that know how to love. The romance is lovely, the sex is not overdone, the drama is not overdone. This author has the timing down just right. She know how to write a memorable love story and I love that! Great narration.
This is an interesting book. And those far between. It has a story, a mystery, and intrigue. I think I will need to listen again because the ending really threw me for a loop, in a good way. The drinking, smoking, tatting, piercing I think is becoming interesting to me. This writer knows how to write a story and I love that. The dialog is good, and it is real. I didn't feel that boring sense of the writer went down a check list. All these character are interesting. Young, quick to react, I was there once. I really appreciated the timing in this book. Some of you may it frustrating but I found it special. Good narration, but some the voice were not enough different for me to figure it out right away. Overall I believe you will enjoy this story. I am going to look forward to the next installment.
