The book is quite good and fills in the story as expected but I couldn't get over the reading itself. I think this is the third narrarator in this series and that's livable but what isn't is that he couldn't be bothered to listen to previous books and keep all the pronunciations the same. All the character names, realm and city names are so misspronunced it's difficult to follow the story. It seems disrespectful for a narrator to take on a reading like this without doing some research and to pretty much completely wreck the book. All I know is I couldn't get past it and that I'm very dissapointed.
The book is pretty good but not as good as the first in this spin off or the rest of the series. A must listen if you're a fan of start force though.
Technically there could be Another series but ther book closes things pretty well. sad but good read.
This And the entire series has ask the action and humor of Ringo and the depth off Weber. Some of the battles are a bit long winded and in true Weber form painfully over described but all in all its a great book and series. I relisten at least once a year.
3 kids in the house that act exactly like this. It's short, funny and totally true.
There is nothing I can really say to describe the book without giving away the story except to say the book was hilarious! The humor is so dry and the timing of the narrator so spot on you keep needing to go back in your head and see if you heard things correctly. Cruel yet funny, sad but hilarious, and such a dumbfounded jacka** for a main character that you just want to beat him over the head the entire book. Oh and when you do want to beat this not real yet ever so irritating character just remember that he keeps telling people that he is not and never wanted to be a hero! This book goes many places most will not expect but it really is pretty funny and original. I recommend it to anyone that will enjoy both dry and dirty humor and likes a mostly monotone (intentional; not put to sleep horrible and non-emotional) yet spot on delivery of jokes and general antics.
This was a bit different from the way these books flow and the main character wavers between good and bad moral choices constantly but keeps you wanting to listen. The book touches on many different types of issues ranging from moral to political and has a pretty big underdog negative feel to it. You keep rooting for the main characters but bad things just keep on happening to them. It does not make it a bad book but it will bore those that like nothing but action and a certain amount of required architecture to these types of books. If you like end of the world (or at least society as we know it) books and have no problems with explicit violence and cruelty this book is pretty good, but if you are squeamish I would stay away from it.
This book is pretty dated but it really does not matter. Ok the amount of smoking that takes place is comical and really the only thing that dates the book. It`s written so well that if not for the smoking you would be hard pressed to tell just how old it is if someone claimed it were new. The story flows very well and keeps you wondering about just what the hell is going on right up to the end and has a good mix of humor, action and mystery. It passes on long and drawn out descriptions of places and thing and sticks to the basics while giving you more than enough detail to completely enjoy the read. The narrator seems to know just how to read the book to give it that old detective novel feel while keeping you wondering why this book has princes in the title. It was really fun and a good imaginative story to boot!
A decent story with some fun characters though the technology seems dated. An overall good standalone novel and mystery. Doesn't need any sequels and not Bova's best but worth listening to if you're a Bova fan.
This book picks up the action well and keeps it going. Adds well to the story line and fills in many needed points. Ends without a major cliffhanger that will bother you all through the wait to the next book. Some real fun twists in this book and some of the usual characters from the previous books are missing for much of the book giving a break to the hero's comical love life. Over all a good solid book and addition to the series.
