This particular story was a good idea but so very poorly executed. Repetitive phrases, way too much detail on unimportant items. Sexual harassment written as if it were flirting dialogue.
I have enjoyed Tami Hoag books before, but now I'm not sure if I will even attempt another Hoag book.
I enjoyed the book for the most part and loved the narration. I'm glad I got it in audio as I'm not sure reading it would have been as enjoyable. I didn't quite "get" the movie, although I liked it so thought the book would help. I'm no "Pollyanna" but the ending of the book really ticked me off and left me feeling dissatisfied. Not every story has a happy ending, but I feel this book had no ending. I may listen to it again but doubt there will be a different outcome. ;)
This book was not one I thought I would like. I decided to go ahead and get it and could kick myself for not getting it earlier.
Not only was it a marvelous story, but also the narration by Craig Wasson was REMARKABLE!
I had purchased this on my Kindle and decided to get the audible version as well. I had not heard of this author and truly enjoyed the story. I look forward to reading more of her novels.
The narration was a little difficult to understand at times and I was glad I had the book to verify the words. I would have preferred the dialect not be as strong so I could understand it better.
I enjoy the story but felt the narration did not help the story in any way. I wish I had read this rather than listen to it. The narrator has little inflection and did not put any emphasis on the dialogue. There was absolutely no emotion in this reading at all. I can't say it was monotone, but it was the next thing to that.
This is one of the best Lisa Gardner book that I have read thus far. Suspenseful, riveting with several twists and turns.
I have read the majority of the Prey series, although not necessarily in order. This is one of his earlier stories. It is, by far, one of my favorites.
I couldn't stop reading it as I was on the edge of my seat. At times, I was tense with the anticipation of what would happen next.
The Prey series is one of the best in this genre and I would not only highly recommend MIND PREY, but the entire Davenport series.
I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author so I was so disappointed in this book. It drawn out, repetitive and did not keep my attention. It was a CHORE to listen to this.
This is the first Joe Hill book I have read. I also have not read a good horror story for years. I'm pleased this is the first I've read in years as it had all the components I love in the horror genre.
Aging, self-absorbed rock star Judas Coyne has a thing for the macabre and has a horrible collection. His background of abuse and this collection has caused him difficulty in hs relationships, yet he basically keeps them due to his reputation but when his assistant tells him about a ghost for sale on an online auction site, he immediately puts in a bid and purchases it. This is the beginning of a series of events, not even Judas could imagine.
The story not only outlines the horror but also brings some humanity to Judas. I started out not fond of Judas Coyne and ended up liking the character.
Stephen Lang did an excellent job of narration and bought a good deal to the dialogue.
However, I was less than pleased with the audiobook production. Adding music to an audiobook is not only not necessary, but also is extremely irritating to me.
It would have been much better without the multiple musical interludes which explains my rating on performance.
I can't even begin to state how much I enjoyed The Panther. I so enjoy Mr. DeMille's style and subject of writing. Although I know it is fiction, I still feel that a lot of it is based in fact. I enjoyed the continuing story of John Corey, the ending in this one for me was a little anti-climatic, but it ended as it should.
I cheered on the "heros" and booed the "villians", yet wondered how this could be when both represent our country!
Scott Brick is a marvelously talented narrator and I am pleased he was still the narrator for the John Corey series.
This is a great read but I would suggest one reads the prior John Corey novels first (especially The Lion).
