I liked book, but did not feel too emotional as many others have commented on their review. The author was fantastic and have certainly one of the positives of this book. Otherwise, this is a good book, but not a great book. I would rate as 3.9 to 4.0
If you are a 'Grisham' fan, then you don't have to think twice to buy this book. This book will meet all the expectation a Grisham reader will have from him. If you have not read 'Time to kill' yet, then please read it first if you have time. If you do not have time, then I recommend you watch the movie and then start reading (hearing) this book.
Nice start to the story, Story maintains good pace, performance is very good. Overall a good book, but not a great book. I have read 'Catch me' from Lisa Gardner and Touch and Go. I would rate 'Catch me' higher than 'Touch and Go'.
Certainly not a waste of credit. If you like 'Catch me' then Go for it.
If you compare this one to Jack Reacher's 'Kill Shot', this book will be 2 stars less. I had read couple of Jack Reacher series and was expecting an exciting and thrilling story line, but was very disappointed. The story lacks the usual Jack Reacher's detective skills. The plot and the motive turns out to be very week. Do not waste your credits on this book.
The book has all the items that one would expect in a Dan Brown novel. Some of them include, a quick snippet on the historical background of the place, taking the reader back to one of Langdon's lectures back in Harvard to provide more context/background, a plot that holds until the end and a thrilling ending.
The negative includes, similar style to Davindi code or Lost symbol, almost predictable events (The way Langdon's escape from harms way is almost something you can predict if you have read some or all of his previous novel) and NOT a riveting story line.
Gone Girl was my first book from this author and this book is every bit a competitor to 'Gone Girl'. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The suspense was kept until the very last moment and keeps you guessing on the mystery. I am already looking forward to read her other book ''Sharp Objects''.
I wouldn't rate this as a great book or a page turner. The story is more around Mitch (of course) but you could see Irene, Thomas stansfield and Stan Hurley being involved as well. The plot it not that great and you don't have any event that races against time. If you have already read many Mitch Rapp series, then this book may well seem to be reduntant to you in terms of explanation of attributes of Mitch, usage of his techniques, rules around CIA etc.
George Guidall gives a stellar performance (as usual).
READ IT IF YOU ARE A MITCH RAPP FAN or VINCE FLYNN FAN only.
This is just simply the best. I read this right after I read Lincoln lawyer. This scores better then lincoln lawyer. I like the trial episodes which was done very well. The performance of the narrator was very impressive and adds a zest to the book reading. Overall, very satisfying experience with this book. Couldn't wait to get another Mikki Haller series.
Firstly, the performer accent was horrible. In an effort to make it sound indian, he spoiled the already bad story/content of this book. I am still struggling on what is so big and unique about this book that it won awards. The description of events or a place seems ordinary, no big insights into human minds (hero's mind rather), no thrill or suspense, nothing that is informative. Not sure why others are rating this to be high.
Waste of credit.
Certainly not from Aravind Adiga.
I have listed to John Lee's other performance, but here in an effort to sound original, he has introduced annoyance (especially to the Indian listeners).
Disappointment on the book content. Anger on the narrator performance.
The book certainly lives up to its title as it talks about nearly everything. I was looking forward to get more analogies of some of the scientific theories and did not find enough. It was a long read (or hearing) and I had to skip through certain chapters as it was not interesting.
