    • UNABRIDGED (5 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Tina Fey
    • Narrated By Tina Fey

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

Warren says: "Tina Fey broke my new SUV"
"HILARIOUS! Just slow down the narration a bit."

Most comedy skits/shows/ books by celebrities these days have too many political and personal lifestyle views that I do not agree with. This is brilliant material though. She sounds as if she is reading off a quick grocery list, as if in a race to finish it. I have actually had to rewind or use the slowdown setting quite a few times. BUT this is really very entertaining and I can't contain laughs while my IPod is in my ears (I have to pause during my morning workout so people won't look at me funny!), once you get over these little glitches. She's great with impersonations too. Take what you like, and leave the rest. THIS could be a classic.

  • Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 59 mins)
    • By Mary Roach
    • Narrated By Shelly Frasier
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

Matthew says: "Darn funny if you're open to the idea."
"please get rid of the bald guy headphones icon!"
Where does Stiff rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    pretty good!!!

What could Mary Roach have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

not much. That will take a few re-listenings.

Did Shelly Frasier do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

If you could give Stiff a new subtitle, what would it be?

not sure! so many out there....maybe

    Any additional comments?

    fun, however dark read!!!

  • Full Dark, No Stars

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Craig Wasson, Jessica Hecht
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

    Parusski says: "Eerie, honest, frightening!"
"Wow! After such a long time."

OOOH I loved this collection. This is much better than his other ones. The narration could have been better; Ms. Hecht's voice is a little "wheedly" and irritating like she has no brains at first in her narrations. But then she tends to turn out later sounding like a "ha-ha I caught you" sarcastic feel--which is more fitting for the plot--"Big Driver" was my favorite. King's newer full-novel audiobooks are too wordy, have stupid music and sound effects( and they go off-tangent) but most of his collections really keep me on my toes. Craig Wasson is good too, though I didn't care for "1922" too much--it was over-acted. But all that aside, once again, Steve, you are back with that virtual butcher knife, slicing right through to the hilt! Way to go!

  • Shutter Island

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Dennis Lehane
    • Narrated By Tom Stechschulte

Summer, 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels has come to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane. Along with his partner, Chuck Aule, he sets out to find an escaped patient, a murderess named Rachel Solando, as a hurricane bears down upon them.

But nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. Is he there to find a missing patient? Or has he been sent to look into rumors of Ashecliffe's radical approach to psychiatry?

Barry says: "Outstanding psychological thriller set in the 50s"
    "Good novel, but...."

I cried like a baby at the end! Now I am afraid to watch the movie!
