Actually, Keith Carridine did a great job narrating.
Learning so much about Neil Young and his personal life and interests... I had no idea his was into so many different things besides music.
His voice is clear and easy to understand.
Not sure why his editor allowed it but the book is extremely disjointed. He jumps around like a crazed person.... sorry Neil, I love you but your writing needs work.
Not really. If you are over 40 and have simply gained some weight over the past 20 years this book is not the answer although it may help you understand other women and their struggle.
A lot of women have some deep psychological reasons for over-eating but fortunately or unfortunately, I am not one of them.
Confident, Calming, Condescending
No. It did not help Oprah and it will not help me either.
I have come to the conclusion that I am just not that nutty and my few extra pounds is a natural part of aging in my case. I am healthy despite feeling like I need to lose 20 pounds.
The main character, Calliopie... not sure how to spell that :) She is born with a rare condition affecting her sexual orientation and I gained so much insight to these types of disorders.
Love the narrator.
Destamona... not sure how to spell that either :) I actually have this book in hardcover and read it many years ago but when I saw it on Audible I had to get it. The story is quite long and a bit complicated so reading it again was a good thing.
So much interesting history intertwined in the storytelling. Love that.
I give it a 9.
No Characters... its a self-help book :)
The guided meditations are very well done. The voice is soothing and conducive to calming relaxation.
As humans we tend to get stuck in our behavioral patterns. This book can help see that change is doable and if you go about it using these techniques it is perfectly natural and easy.
I give it a 7.
Not as good as Middlesex.
Very good narration.
Some giggles but I did not really get emotionally attached to any of the characters.
Hated the ending.
This books sums up many theories about the evolution of the human mind and human behavior. Well written and comprehensive.
The Believing Brain and Why People Believe Weird Things by Michael Shermer. Also, the Evolution of God. I would also highly recommend The God Part of the Brain by Matthew Alper (not available on audio book :) but an excellent read)
Not really a book that has "scenes" but the flow of the book explaining the theories is very natural and comfortable.
What every human should know.
The use of Darwin's life and his relationships is educational and insightful.
The description of this book is a bit deceiving. I am 54 years old so it may be that is was directed to a less mature audience but that should be indicated somehow in the description. I feel my time and money was wasted on this one. In fact I found it quite irritating because I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did. If you are over the age of 15 do not waste your time or money.
Yes. First of all I should have known being written by a man and supposedly from a girls perspective.... that alone is a problem. I once was a 15 year old girl and although it was a long time ago the basic things about how young girls feel and think was really poorly represented.... and in such a bad way. The author makes young girls seem so ridiculous and simple minded and that is really not true.
She had a very irritating way of doing the mother voice but otherwise she was okay.
Oh so many to count. The author gave far to much useless information and detail about
The main character Lee (even that name choice was really lame) was portrayed as a boy-crazy idiot. She had the worst communication skills and it is a wonder anyone had anything to do with her as friends. I realize there are people in the world like that but they are not really fascinating individuals. I have no burning interest in them and I don't know anyone who does.
