    "Bad Narrator"
    Overall

I found it a real struggle to listen all the way through. The Narrator only has three voices; normal used for telling the story and used for younger males, Gruff for any mature male or person in autority, and a lighter tone for all females. American accents were not regional. Bring on Kerry Shale! I will not be following this series.

    Story

Rhyme's cousin has been arrested for murder. The evidence clearly shows he did it, but Rhyme agrees to check things out. It turns out that the cousin, along with other people, has been wrongly convicted, because the true killer knows every single detail about the lives of the victims he kills and the men he sets up to take the fall for those crimes.

Bryan says: "Narrater as good as a Cast"

    Overall

Fast moving, instantly complelling, this story is full of unique characters. The voices of Kerry Shale have so much depth and versatility you are never bored by his tone or intent, it is just like listening to a full cast. I am sold on this reader and will seek out his other works regardless of author - what exciting prospects!

    Story

TV reporter Tiel McCoy gets up close and personal with the barrel of a gun, two desperate young lovers, and the scoop of a lifetime. And she was supposed to be on vacation! Poignant and riveting, Standoff is suspense at its best, as only Sandra Brown can create it.

    "Captivating read"
    Overall

If you liked movies such as "Lifeboat", or "12 Angry Men", where everything takes place in one location, then you'll enjoy this one.
Standoff is set inside a Convenience Store during a botched robbery.
The characters who find themselves hostages, in some way are stereotypes, but this aids your understanding of what each is liable to do under stress. Ironically you find yourself simpathetic to the cause of the robbers.
The narrator's accents/voices for each character is also well defined and is easy to follow. The story holds you with new revelations appearing at regular intervals. The journey will not disappoint you.
