The information in this book is good, informative info for anyone interested in improving their health. Often the information repeats itself and towards the end, I kept asking myself if I had accidently hit the back button, but in the same breath, I'll also say that Mark's simple steps are burned into my mind and his reasoning for why his guidelines work are clear enough for me to figure out what I should be doing to increase my metabolism. Even if you are already familiar with the world of natural foods and clean living, you will find information in this book that will further your efforts towards healthy living.
The best 4.95 I've spent in awhile! Sometimes I question whether I want to spend a credit on something less than 10 hours but this book is worth it. Even though I bought this book on sale, I would have spent the credit. The story is light, funny and it moves along with enough odd ball twists to keep you listening straight through. Wil Wheaton's skill as a narrator is well matched with this book. Read it if you like uncomplicated entertainment
This is a well written and well narrated book. Lots of action and and interesting characters. There's a good twist to the plot - one a reader might have questioned along the way but I'm not going to say anything else about it. Get this book and read it. You'll like it.
The narration was very good but by mid story I was getting pretty annoyed with the narrator's whining voice. Granted, the character Ryan was going through heart wrenching anguish but it was almost enough to make me turn the book off.
Overall, the story was an interesting enough rendition of star-crossed love. The ending was predictable and in comparison to the action within the body of the story, somewhat of a let down. I felt the last few chapters simply punched out what we all expected to happen in the end without any drama. In the end, it was good brainless listening.
I wanted to really love this book. After reading the reviews, I hoped I would find myself so immersed in Alaska & the characters lives but overall, it just didn't do it for me. I did enjoy the story. I thought it was well written and the narrator was very good but I think my expectations were set too high after reading the reviews.
Definitely a story of dark and scary subject matter and a surprising twist that bummed me out - but with that said this story held my attention from beginning to end and the narrator was excellent. I'm not going to say much because this is one book a reader needs to go into without any preconceived ideas.Being a female who travels by herself and lives behind unlocked doors, I have to admit I think I need to sleep with my flare gun close at hand - or something. Makes one think about the creeps out there in or world. CJ Box is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers but I think the next thing I download needs to be some happy chic lit book. I'll need to beef up my "feel safe" attitude after this one. I would have give the book a 5 star across the board except the story took me a bit past my comfort level but it doesn't mean it will take you that close.
I enjoyed this book because it kept me chuckling over the absurdity of beauty pageants and one that has gone awry. If you're looking for a light read that will keep you smiling, buy this book.
If you are expecting a Stephanie Plum type story. Don't waste your credit. I for one, really enjoyed this book. I have listened to many books by Janet but burned out on Janet's humor and had not purchased any of her books over the past several years. I bought this book with a healthy dose of hesitation but I'm glad I did. I also have listened to so many books narrated by Scott Brick & have been a tad burned out with his style as well. Well, much to my surprise, this story is well presented by Scott and the storyline entertaining.
I feel like the narrator must have been being performing this book while being fed coffee intravenously. I only made it through the first 2 1/2 hours of this book and the story is good and I want to keep listening but I have to put it down often because the speed the narrator is jabbering is enough to drive me nuts. Between her high pitch and overly excited presentation, I'm driven to the point of wanting to scream. It's been awhile since I read the first two books in the series and maybe if I had written a review I might have remembered if I liked them or not.
It took a few tries and lots of rewinding to get through this book. If you don't stay thoroughly engaged with the story you'll find yourself saying what happened and when did that happen? I found it hard to stay engaged because of the narration which I found bland enough to send my mind wandering. The story dragged on and then often jumped between scenes and characters making it had to keep track of what was going on... of course that might be due to my inability to keep my mind from wandering. In the end, this will be one book I'll not read twice. I really wanted to like this book and it took a real effort to make my way to the end. Overall I feel like I wasted a credit and maybe might have found more enjoyment from the story in written word.
David Baldacci is one one my favorite authors and I will buy anything he writes. So I was surprised when I was searching the library to see if there was a book I had not purchased and found this one. Early on I must have been swayed by the ratings but didn't pay attention when I finally purchased this book. It took 4 attempts of getting into this book before I forced myself to just listen for the story's sake. In typical Baldacci, the story was good, engaging and entertaining. But, the narrator certainly killed my overall enjoyment. If you really enjoy David Baldacci, then weather through the narration for the story's sake otherwise, save your credit
