The Invisible Order is the first book in an amazing new series by Paul Crilley, skillfully narrated by Katherine Kellgren. Emily Snow is twelve years old, supporting herself and her younger brother on the streets of Victorian England by selling watercress. One early winter morning on her way to buy supplies, she encounters a piskieā€”a small but very sarcastic fey creature that has been cornered by a group of the Black Sidhe, piskies from an opposing clan.

I really enjoyed this book! The story is well done and the characters are well developed. What really sets this audiobook apart is the narration. Katherine Kellgren really puts you in the middle of all the action, its like your right there in the mix with the characters! I don't know if I would have enjoyed this as much if I had just straight read it, she has a way of conveying whats happening on the page and bringing it to life! The book itself has a good story and some great plot twists, all in all this is a great book for kids and adults. Be warned though, there is a cliffhanger at the end! I recommend getting the second book as well!

Elizabeth has just started working as a page at the New York Circulating Material Repository - a lending library of objects, contemporary and historical, common and obscure. And secret, too - for in the repository's basement lies the Grimm Collection, a room of magical items straight from the Grimm Brother's fairy tales. But the magic mirrors and seven-league boots and other items are starting to disappear.

This was an enjoyable novel that did a great job weaving together all the different stories from Grimm fairytales. The narrater does a great job as well. My only gripe is that I never really got attached to the characters and by the end of the story they were getting on my nerves, but they are teenagers and teenagers can do that so I guess its realistic. All in all I enjoyed it and would recommend if you have a credit to spare.

Not since Moby-Dick.... No, not since Treasure Island.... Actually, not since Jonah and the Whale has there been a group of seafarers to rival The Pirates! and their leader, the greatest ocean-faring hero of all time, the immortal Pirate Captain, who, although he lives for months at a time on the bounding main, somehow manages to keep his beard silky and in good condition.

This pairing of the first two novels of the Pirates! series is super funny! Pirate captain with his glorious beard and love of ham and his rag tag crew of pirates get themselves into the most hilarious situations (i.e adventures)! I found myself chuckling out loud at some things they got up to. Thoroughly enjoyable listen even if it does get a little silly. John Lee does an awesome job narrating, Fingers crossed that he does the other books in this series as well!

I love this book! Its a series of vignettes of the lives of women in Cranford. I first decided to listen to this when they announced that it was coming to masterpiece classic, and while i thoroughly enjoyed the show, the book is so much better. Even after so many listens, I still crack up at the antics of some of the characters. Prunella Scales does a wonderful narration and Mrs Gaskell does a great job making the everyday lives of Victiorian women entertaining. I would recommend this to those who enjoy the novels of Georgette Heyer and are looking for something similar yet different.

Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester. One crisp October night, as they watch, a star falls from the sky, and Victoria promises to marry Tristran if he'll retrieve the star and bring it back for her. It is this promise that sends Tristran on the most unforgettable adventure of his life.

    Story

Like the other reviews state, this is a fairy tale for adults, and a darn good one too! I usually avoid books narrated by their authors but Gaiman is one of a few (I can count them on one hand) authors whom I enjoy listening to. This was my first title by him and I groaned when I saw that he was narrating it (I have been burned by author narrations before!) but now I cant really imagine anyone else narrating it. He just does such a great job! The story is well thought out, you get a bit of everything-romance, adventure, magic, humor, etc, and all the characters are well developed. Its a pretty short listen, but packs a good punch. Add me to the Neil Gaiman fan club!
