  • Agatha Raisin: The Quiche of Death and the Vicious Vet (Dramatisation)

    • ORIGINAL (1 hr and 39 mins)
    • By M. C. Beaton
    • Narrated By Penelope Keith

After a lifetime spent in public relations, the drinking and smoking one-woman dynamo that is Agatha Raisin struggles to adapt to life in a quiet Cotswold village. Penelope Keith stars as Agatha Raisin, Miss Marple with attitude, in two full-cast dramas based on the bestselling books by M. C. Beaton.

And I loved it. I hadn't caught that this was a performance versus an audiobook, so I was taken aback during the first few minutes. But I enjoyed myself thoroughly and can't wait to hear the next one! I see the next one is audio, not performance. I'm slighly disappointed but I'm sure since Penelope Keith is the narrator I'll be happy. I highly recommend this series, this narator and this performance.

  • Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 7 mins)
    • By Winifred Watson
    • Narrated By Frances McDormand

Miss Pettigrew is a down-on-her-luck, middle-aged governess sent by her employment agency to work for a nightclub singer rather than a household of unruly children. Over a period of 24 hours, as she becomes caught up in the life of Delysia LaFloss, her own life is changed - forever. This charming, funny, light-hearted 1938 novel was a bestseller on its first appearance. Read by Academy Award winning actress Frances McDormand, who stars in the 2008 film as Miss Pettigrew.

    Holly C. Salley says: "Adorable"
"I cannot praise this book enough."

What a waste that Ms Watson did not publish more books, this book has entered a favorite all time spot on my books list. I was sorry when it ended, and instantly googled to see if Miss Pettigrew reappeared in another book -- unfortunately not. But I'm glad I didn't miss this book! Thanks to Frances McDorman for bringing Miss Petrigrew to life, I felt I shared the day with both of you!

  • Blindman's Bluff

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Faye Kellerman
    • Narrated By Mitchell Greenberg
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

LAPD homicide detective Peter Decker and his wife, Rina Lazarus, will be blindsided by a brutal multiple murder in this twisting tale of suspense from New York Times best-selling author Faye Kellerman.

    Corinne says: "Good enough"
"Always love spending time with Peter and Rina"

I've been reading these books since forever, and this is my first time listening to them. I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed it more if I'd been reading, but the point is moot since I have more time to listen than I do to read these days. I enjoyed the story, enjoyed catching up with all the characters. Not sure the narrator was my favorite, but he didn't ruin it for me -- just made me question whether the dialog sounded so 'flat' in print. Way too many Peter said, Rina said, Hannah replied -- didn't really add to the story. I did enjoy the story, it was suspenseful most of the way through and interesting until the end.

But hours spent with either Kellerman are always worthwhile so this won't be my last.
