In The Boy Who Followed Ripley, Highsmith explores Ripley's bizarrely paternal relationship with a troubled young runaway, whose abduction draws them into Berlin's seamy underworld. More than any other American literary character, Ripley provides "a lens to peer into the sinister machinations of human behavior." (John Freeman, Pittsburgh Gazette).

Darwin8u says: "Ripley coldly floats between two steep cliffs."
"Once again, Ripley is a fascinating character"

What did you love best about The Boy Who Followed Ripley?

I like how Ripley has evolved and the various situations he is placed in.

What did you like best about this story?

the author has cleverly placed you inside the mind of Ripley. and a fascinating mind it is

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought it was great how Ripley wore a ' costume ' and took on the kidnappers. Absolute genius of the imagination

    Any additional comments?

this is not the most thrilling of the Ripley series, but you should give it your time.

Frieda Klein is a solitary, incisive psychotherapist who spends her sleepless nights walking along the ancient rivers that have been forced underground in modern London. She believes that the world is a messy, uncontrollable place. The abduction of five-year-old Matthew Farraday provokes a national outcry and a desperate police hunt. And when his face is splashed over the newspapers, Frieda cannot ignore the coincidence: one of her patients has been having dreams in which he has a hunger for just such a child.

    William says: "Terrific!"
"Somewhat drawn out child abduction story"

What did you like best about Blue Monday? What did you like least?

I think child abduction is a difficult topic. Its difficult to read about children suffering. The plot takes far too long to develop. The last hour seems to be rushed to tidy up all the loose ends. I like the Dr Frieda Klein character. realistic portrait of a psychiatrist. The Ukrainian handyman seems to be lightweight , sort of a mildly humorous insert to all the tension in this story.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

it should have faster pacing. Some of the characters are superfluous.

    Which scene was your favorite?

ending and the Doctors pivotal role is entertaining

Was Blue Monday worth the listening time?

not my favorite. the topic is difficult IMO. I wanted to give the story a good listen since the author(s) are excellent. In retrospect, I would not have bought it

There are two sides to Holly Krauss. One is successful and happily married, and the other takes walks on the wild side and makes reckless mistakes. When those two sides collide, her world spirals out of control. She thinks that she is being stalked and that threats lurk around every corner. Are her fears due to paranoia or is the danger real? The people closest to her soon run out of patience and there may be no one to catch her when she falls.

Would you consider the audio edition of Catch Me When I Fall to be better than the print version?

    n/a

What did you like best about this story?

I like the characters , their development and how the authors present them, as if we are listening to them, inside their heads

What about Anne Flosnik’s performance did you like?

Ms Flosnik is excellent. Fantastic work on various character voices.

    Any additional comments?

I would like to give this story a 4.5. It is not as fantastic as Secret Smile. Still, Catch Me is highly recommended.

Mayhem. You won't find this story on television. Hollywood gets more than it bargained for when television's hottest star arrives at the Miami Police Department and develops an intense, professional interest in a camera-shy blood spatter analyst named Dexter Morgan. Mega-star Robert Chase is famous for losing himself in his characters. When he and a group of actors descend on the Miami Police Department for "research", Chase becomes fixated on Dexter Morgan, the blood spatter analyst with a sweet tooth for doughnuts and a seemingly average life.

Where does Dexter's Final Cut rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

+ 11. I am 3 hours into this audio book and it is great.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I haven't finished it yet but the story is terrific and its building.

What does Jeff Lindsay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Jeff is a terrific narrator and brings a unique voice to each character. Don't miss it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Jeff's understated wit and/or Dexter's sardonic/sarcastic remarks are very funny.

    Any additional comments?

If you like Dexter and Jeff's Dexter books, this purchase is a no brainer ! It delivers !

Have you listened to any of Peter Hermann’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Peter did a great job with the characters

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When they caught the ' bad guys '.

    Any additional comments?

The 112 chapters give the story a somewhat choppy pace. The plot does move but I think 112 interruptions is unnecessary.

Would you try another book from David Baldacci and/or Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ?

    His earlier books were better

What was most disappointing about David Baldacci’s story?

the clipped non answer conversations between the agents and gov't officials is grating and irritating after awhile. I hope that does not happen in real life. The plot has some merit but the dialogue was silly.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performances?

the female narrator is not convincing and her other voices are not working. That was the reason for the 1 rating.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    disinterest.
