"Why did I wait so many years to listen to it?"
Tough start. Seemed repetative, and like a bunch of screaming. It all serves a purpose. Hated to see it end. I lived small parts of this in survival training, etc. Noting like Conroy describes, but enough to believe and feel the time period military. Loved the feel of what I think the sough is probably like, being a California boy. My wife started it, and could not continue. It is not for everyone, but I tried to get her to continue. I know she would have felt it worth whilem if she had kept going. This is one that I bellieve listening to would be better than reading. I have a friend who hates audio books. I had her listen to a small part, and now she is listening to the rest.
"Simple but interesting"
A friend listed this on a "books you should enjoy" list. I thought the overall story was very simple, but at the same time it kept my interest. Had some feeling, but no surprises.
