This audio version was wonderfully done. Using the multiple narrators echoed the book's written structure. I listened to it even after seeing the movie and reading the book, and it warrants multiple listens to completely follow all that is occurring in the various threads of the story.
I wish Neil Gordon's other 2 books which I have also already read could be recorded. They are all excellent
The narration was wonderful and suited to the writing. The writing was so much more lyrical than I expected and made me want to hear every word. I will listen to this again. The story/plot is not complicated or complex but the writing makes you want to keep listening and the ending is not what I expected. Both du Maurier fans and romance readers will love this book.
Steve West has really captured the voice of Richard Jury and associates. This is a wonderful narration and I really hope that he continues to narrate the rest of the series.
This is a great story, fantastic plot and some great insights into people and relationships. BUT, the narrator overdoes the reading of some of the characters making them parodies of themselves, especially Mary's mother. If you are a Lisa Scottoline fan I recommend it anyway. I wish I had a Mary Di Nunzio!
I love that you are doing Martha Grimes early books - love them all. But I do miss the narrating skills of Donada Peters and John Lee.
If you start here, you miss too much of the continuity of the story. If you're listening to them in order, after you hear Book 5, you won't be able to wait to hear this one. I couldn't. Book 5 is also 5 stars and you just can't stand it that it ends where it does. ps I am American
I was surprised at the poor quality of the reading. I have read the book and liked it. But, for some reason, even though I love Debra Winger this reading was off. It was hurried and flat. It needs to be re-done.
Truly very good. My only complaint is that Audible is so anxious to tell you that it is an audible production that you have no time to think about the last sentence. There should at least be a pause of a few seconds!
This book has several stories and multiple themes being developed simultaneously, yet Wanda McCaddon reads it so well that all is clear and one is compelled to keep listening. I hope Audible will increase its catalogue of books like this.
the reading is beautifully done, and even though it is a complicated story, there is never any confusion between racters, time or place. i also liked the musical segues. i will certainly listen to it again.
