"I loved it (and the kids didn't mind either)"
I was originally looking for something the kids could listen to on our multiple trips accross the state and found something that I enjoyed for my commute, also. Sometimes the british accent gets hard to listen to, but overall once you're going and into the story it kind of fades away.
"Brilliant genre blend"
I originally thought I was buying a zombie book to get my fix while I waited for the next Walking Dead. As it turns out I got a military sci-fi mystery book with zombies in it. I'm not sure if the rest of this series has zombies or not, but I was hooked by the twists and convincing faux science and riveting action. I'm buying the next one as soon as I get my new credits.
"Simple, fun genre, time filler"
There really wasn't anything to this audiobook that would have me raving about it to friends unless they had some time to kill on a commute and liked the genre. That was me. I've been spoiled with some of the best listens since I started Audible so my expectations may be set pretty high, but this didn't knock my socks off. I was thoroughly entertained while I was driving, but not sitting in the car once I got where I was going.
One thing of note that you might find interesting or off-putting is that it's written in the form of a journal. I wasn't totally sold on that style because it had more detail than a person might write in their own personal journal, but would cut off when I wanted a little more detail. It is an easy enough style to write though and if that's what gets the content out there, then all the better.
If anyone expressed interest in it off of the description, title and cover, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to them. If this is you, give it a listen.
"Really a story telling"
This was really a top notch presentation. The background sounds really made it feel like you were being immersed in the story as it was going on around you. I've heard many other books that make you feel as though you're being read to, but this was a whole different experience. It was a refreshing surprise. I'm not opposed to a lower production value with good audio of a person reading, but this just brought it to a whole new level and you really deserve to hear this story while it completely surrounds you.
Even if you've read this story before, the added dimension that the production brings to the story is well worth the purchase credit. I'm off to listen to the next in the series.
