Michael McIntyre has become Britain’s biggest comedy star. His debut stand-up DVD, Live & Laughing, was the fastest selling of all time, only to be eclipsed by his second, Hello Wembley, which sold over 1.4 million copies and was the 2009 Christmas number one. He hosts his own BAFTA nominated BBC1 series, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, and won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-up in 2009 following his record breaking 54-date Arena tour.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes this is extremely funny in places, it's Michael McIntyre, that comes with the territory. It is also an inspiring story of a man who literally worked his way to the top. I couldn't put it down...no wait that's not it.... but I did take the very long way home and became the worlds most courteous driver, to hear the end of this audio book. It was beautifully told by the man himself. It was an emotional journey which I truely enjoyed!

Have you listened to any of Michael McIntyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was in some ways better than his DVD's as this is not a performance but a window into the humour of the man himslef.

Jack Morgan is a war hero. Returning home from Afghanistan after being wounded, Jack is called into California State Prison to visit his father, Tom, who is serving a life sentence for extortion and murder. Before being incarcerated, Tom ran a private investigation firm called ‘Private’. Tom wants Jack to re-start the company, to make it great again, and gives him access to a $15 million dollar account in the Cayman Islands to do it with.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It was as if they ran out of time or inspiration toward the end of the book. There wasn't the usual Patterson magic. It felt rushed and predictable. I remember thinking, "Really, is that it??"

    Any additional comments?

It was an enjoyable story, but not one I would bother listening to again.

In Steve Jobs: The Exclusive Biography, Walter Isaacson provides an extraordinary account of Jobs' professional and personal life. Drawn from three years of exclusive and unprecedented interviews Isaacson has conducted with Jobs as well as extensive interviews with Jobs' family members and key colleagues from Apple and its competitors, this is the definitive portrait of the greatest innovator of his generation.

Would you listen to Steve Jobs again? Why?

Steve Jobs proves that imperfect people can still change the world. As a man he was flawed, but as a visionary he was a genius! I enjoyed the technological trip down memory lane as well as the background to the products we see today. I think the book is informative and honest and I moved from feelings of inspiration to anger. For example had he listended to medical advice earlier instead of arrogantly dismissing them, would he still be with us today?

I would recommend that anyone with a passion for design, computers or technology listen to this book. Steve Jobs was obsessed with producing the best product possible. I wonder whether we will ever see another Steve Jobs in this disposable, money driven world?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Steve Jobs?

He insisted that the engineers design the memory chips inside the Macintosh match the rest of the computer, even though no customers would ever see inside. That is commitment to design.
