"Merle's Door"
I have been a member of Audible for at least 3 years and have downloaded on average 3 books a month. Although I normally love a good mystery, I was drawn to this book because of its subject matter, a dog named Merle. My husband and I are owned by two labs; so I related to the author and his relationship with this special animal. The book was by far the best on I have listened too. The fact that it was read by the author lent that much more interest and emotion to the read. I laughed a lot and toward the end cried a lot too. I cannot recommend his book enough to any reader who is owned or has been owned by a dog.
"The Narrator isn't that bad."
Yes it is a good solid story. Not my favorite Harry Bosch story but still entertaining.
The developing relationship between Harry and his new partner.
The escape.
No
A lot of the reviews have focused on the new narrator and they almost stopped me from buying the book until I read a review indicating that the fix was as simple as changing the speed setting on your ipod. That worked and although the narrator isn't as good as Lou, he is adequate.
"Fabulous Book"
This is my first "audible" book review. Thunder Dog is so good that I felt compelled to write about it and tell others. I initially ordered it because of the "handsome" labrador on the cover. Having two labs of my own I am drawn to books about dogs. But this book is so much more. It is a book about faith, about teamwork, about life in general. It is educational. If an audible book can be a page turner, it is that too. There were times I sat in my car longer then I had too because I didn't want to stop listening. The extras at the end of the book, a speech by the President of the Federation of the Blind, a speech by the author and an interview of the author were bonuses. Don't hesitate to purchase this book!
