After listening to this, I bought this book as Christmas presents for all my friends and family. Took a little while to warm up to it, but ultimately found myself laughing and fascinated, often at the same time. Wonderful!
If I could give this book 10 stars I would. It makes all other books I've given 5 stars automatically downgraded to 3 stars. It is scientifically sound (as far I can tell, but I'm no scientist), funny, gripping, and heartwarming without being sentimental. Loved loved loved it.
I love this book for the clever writing, but most of all Scott Aiello's performance is masterful and perfect. He not only can make each character sound completely unique, but his comic timing is perfect.
Ah darnit, this is the third audiobook in a row I had to abandon...I had high hopes for this one, too, as I love Davina Porter's narration and I love time travel stories. It started out wonderful and engaging with great writing (for the most part) and great characters. The great writing and great characters continued but at some point it turned into a bodice ripping harlequin-romance-esque romance novel. It's really a shame, but I couldn't sit through another ridiculous sex scene with the main characters that got more ludicrous each time..."He sheathed himself to the root in a single thrust..." Ugh. Turn off. Delete.
Comically bad. SO bad. Bad writing, bad characters, horrible narration. Bad in every way. I will never listen to a recommendation from Lee Childs again.
Breathtaking. This was my first Steinbeck novel and now I know what all the fuss is about.
I found the characters unlikeable and the dialog unbelievable. I couldn't find a depth of character in any of them. I ultimately abandoned the book because I found myself wanting to listen to anything else *but* the book.
