The spellbinding story of an American lawyer who takes on a nearly impossible case - the defense of an African freedom fighter against his corrupt government's charge of murder. Damon Pierce's life has just reached a defining moment: a gifted California lawyer, he's being divorced by his wife and his work often seems soulless. Then he receives a frantic e-mail from Marissa Brand Okari - a woman he loved years ago - and decides to risk everything to respond to her plea for help.

    "An eyeopener!"
    Overall

It was also an eyeopener for me. I was horrified by the lives these people live. The story was so sad and so passionately written. I can't wait for the next book.

Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and the Congressional Gold Medal, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel offers an unforgettable account of Hitler's horrific reign of terror in Night. This definitive edition features a new translation from the original French by Wiesel's wife and frequent translator, Marion Wiesel.

Jacobus says: "A quality production of a gripping tradegy"
    "A Survivor!"
    Overall

Night is finely written - yet not too overwelming in language or length. Our high school students read this, so I had not and I decided to and what a great book for all races.

Elie Weisel recounts his personal account of the Holocaust from his youth in Siget to the bowels of Hell in the concentration camps. His personalization of horrors experienced by 6 million Jews and allows the reader to intimately share the experience and thoughts of a Holocaust survivor.

  • The Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Tough

The Yada Yadas got tight in the past year, but they're about to learn the real meaning of togetherness.

We'd done it: we'd taken a mismatched, diverse group of women and cobbled together a prayer group that really worked for all of us. Now that spring was here, we were celebrating our one-year anniversary - and a wedding, an early parole, and two baptisms in the lake! Everything was feeling pretty great.

    Overall

The Yada Yadas learn meaning of togetherness.

Diverse group of women and a prayer group that really works for all of us.

This is life and don't forget it! But it's when we are in our comfort zone that we're most likely to let our guard down. Without warning, little things seemed to become big problems. It takes a vicious attack on Nony's husband to make one see that they had to get tough - and fight back together. Prayer can change things and don't ever doubt it!

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Great book and very well written!
