The way Virgil is able to get people to talk to him with his own special personality is always a treat to witness.

At the end when you realize that Virgil is alone and seems to be troubled about the woman who has obviously captured his attention

Yes. The performances are always superb.

This book wasn' as heart pounding with excitement the way "Bad Blood" or "Heat Lightning" was, but it is still a very worthwhile read. I still highly recommend the entire series.

The characters are all well defined, sometimes predictable, but still providing a good storyline

As I said, I have never really been a sci-fi fan, but this series has gripped my imagination. About the only downside that I have had a issue with is that in Iron Grey Sea, the audio level was a lot lower. I drive a truck for a living, so I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and books 1 thru 6 were fine, but this one was so hard to hear over the truck noise.

I am so glad to see that some of the older books are coming out in unabridged audio formats. Please Audible, don't stop!

Overall, I loved this book. The narration was clear and distinct, and the story was well told. About my only dismay was when I realized that this actually the fourth book of the Grail Quest series, and then I was seriously annoyed to find that books 1-3 are only available as abridged versions.
I honestly don't know why publishers waste their time or effort with abridged versions, I personally won't waste time or money on abridged versions.
Maybe someday someone at Audible will realize that there is a HUGE market for unabridged books.

I despise video games. They're for losers who can't function in reality and I have no use for that kind of lifestyle. So when I realized that the 3 Mass Effect books were from a video game, then I realized why the entire storyline was so lame.
This entire series is a waste of time and money.

I've been a fan of Bernard Cornwell for a few years now, and I can say that if more high school history teachers could learn to make history as interesting as Mr. Cornwell does, then I dare say that history would not be the bane of so many high school students.

This book was able to bring a part of European history to life and show us the daily perils that the average person had to endure:hunger, disease, death at the hands of outlaws or by a church that put itself above all. And in the midst of it, this utter chaos, there were people willing to stand and deliver for what they beileve in.

I was so glad that it wasn't some whiny teen angst book like another well known recent series...

But the main character, Merit, was so wishy washy and indecisive about what she wants that it really gets old after awhile.

That and it took FOREVER for anything of real interest to actually happen.

The ending was a lot like the rest of the book, a let down.

Well, me personally, and I want to stress that this is a PERSONAL taste, I don't much care for female narrators. They just don't seem to have the vocal range to give the various characters more definition.

The manuscript for this book should have been staked through the heart before it ever left the editors' desk.

I knew an hour into it that this was an opener for a series. All I can guess is that the author was trying to simply introduce the characters and give some background to the overall story. I'll try another since it is a series, but if the excitement level doesn't pick up dramatically I won't be going past book two

I personally loved this book. The narrator seemed to bring a lot of life to the characters while he also brought death to the battlefields. And from a purely historical standpoint, you can always count on Harold Coyle to do his research.

I have had one complaint about Griffin's books all along, and I don't know why I was expecting anything different this time around. And that is his need to recap the entire previous series books that came before, several times throughout the current book. Hearing the same story rehashed over and over grows old. The overall story line and plot was good, the narrartion was good, but the constant revisiting of previous books caused me to lose interest several times.
