When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he’s been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon. He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan. But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn’t just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth.

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

What other book might you compare Patient Zero to and why?

    World War Z

What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?

Outstanding performance, one of the best I have heard.

    Any additional comments?

A fantastic ride through action, sci-fi, love, horror and terror. Joe Ledger is as cool as Bruce Willis and harder than Vin Diesel. I can not wait to get started on book number 2.

As a Konrath fan I was disappointed by such a drab potrait of horror. For a short story it misses the mark on twists or turns. In the first 5 minutes you can pretty much tell the story yourself and I found myself calling this one from opening to ending credits. Konrath is better than this.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Jack deserves more than a few short stories thrown together. I couldn't get focued on the short stories like I can with the full novels.

    Any additional comments?

Previous short stories about Jack and her pals but the book could not hold my attention.

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Would you listen to The Hunger Games again? Why?

Yes. Hunger Games the book shares details that the movie can not justify or create. The images alone make the book worth the read or listen. I think it is great that an older book can turn into a sensation a few years later and be reborn. Pop culture at work I guess. I did not know what to expect but the ride was fantastic.

What other book might you compare The Hunger Games to and why?

I do not believe there is a book or story out on the market right now that would compare. Great start to a very good series.

What does Carolyn McCormick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Emotion and passion. She did a great job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. This book had me sitting in the car during lunch breaks.

    Any additional comments?

    Bring on book 2!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes only to continue the series. This book is unlike the rest of the JD books for me. Constant jumping around made it hard to keep up with. First you are in her rookie year, to present day, to 10 years ago. Too much jumping.
