What did you love best about Sugar Daddy?

I had read and LOVED the book before purchasing to the Audible version, so I was hesitant to tarnish these wonderful characters with a narrator who might not be up to snuff. Jeannie Stith was amazing! At first, I thought she sounded a little young, but as Liberty aged, Jeannie's voice progressed also. Jeannie's version of Liberty was by turns sweet, touching, sassy, flirtatious, hilarious and just the right amount of sexy. Her interpretation of Gage was just downright hot, something I could never have envisioned from a female narrator doing a male part before I started listening to books (as opposed to reading them.) Similarly, her translations of Churchill, Carrington and Gretchen were spot on. The Audible version of Sugar Daddy (a title I hate, by the way, and think detracts immensely from this wonderful book) cemented its place in my top 5 list.

Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare.... Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well - until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

This was a good story, made great by the wonderful voices and accents in the Audible version. Paula Costello's Braden voice was perfect for a guy who is supposed to be Mr. Hotness. Her Joss had just the right amount of feisty and sexy, and her Ellie was as sweet as she came across during the reading. I usually select my books based on storyline, but Paula is one of the few narrators who might tempt me to buy an Audible book on the strength of her performance. I look forward to more from her.

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires."

I had previously read the Crossfire books and enjoyed them. However, I couldn't get past Jill Redfield's handling of dialogue between Eva and Gideon. I tried, but she had an underlying snarkiness in her tone that made her Eva came across as a snotty-nosed brat. And I laughed everytime I heard Gideon speak. She made him sound like "Patrick" from SpongeBob! That said, I liked her Monica voice and when she was doing straight narration. It was just the Eva-Gideon exchanges that hit the wrong note. Unfortunately, that comprises the bulk of the two books in the series. I had to return both books after listening to about 20% of the first one.

Would you listen to Lover at Last again? Why?

So YES! Jim Frangione is my car BFF. It's impossible for me to be in my car for any length of time without him reading me a Black Dagger Brotherhood story!

What other book might you compare Lover at Last to and why?

Nothing comes to mind. Qhuinn & Blay were the first m/m couple for me, so I don't have a lot of experience with this type of romance. That said, I love knowing that love is love and attraction is attraction, regardless of the participants' gender.

What does Jim Frangione bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He really brings these characters to life! Even the shellans. He hits the nail on the head every time. I love his voice, his inflections, his tone.

With The Look of Love, best-selling author Bella Andre introduces you to a fun and emotional contemporary romance series about the Sullivan family. Because when a Sullivan bad boy falls... he falls hard. And it's forever. Chloe Peterson is having a bad night. A really bad night. The large bruise on her cheek can attest to that. And when her car skids off the side of a wet country road straight into a ditch, she's convinced even the gorgeous guy who rescues her must be too good to be true. Or is he?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the story had been even marginally believable, I would have at least put this down as entertaining. I had enjoyed the book when I read it, but having to listen to the hero say "Lovely" over and over again, made me want to lose my lunch.

What was most disappointing about Bella Andre’s story?

The treacly sweetness of the love story.

What about Eva Kaminsky’s performance did you like?

She was the only highlight of this book. She has a great voice for the female dialogue and she emotes nicely. When she reads the male parts though, she deepens her voice and it makes her affect flat. That aside, EK's reading was the one thing that kept me going until the end.

What character would you cut from The Look of Love?

Sadly, Chase and Chloe, the hero and heroine!

    Any additional comments?

I had liked the first four books in this series when I read them, which is usually at night before falling asleep. However, listening to the Look of Love in broad daylight when I'm in the school pick-up line was like getting doused with cold water. Totally unbelievable and over-the-top with tender feelings and lust. It was just icky!!!Thankfully, I only spent $1.99 for it. Even with that, I'm seriously contemplating returning Book 2 which was also $1.99.

Ever since the death of his shellan, Tohrment has been unrecognizable from the vampire leader he once was. Physically emaciated and heartbroken beyond despair, he has been brought back to the Brotherhood by a self-serving fallen angel. Now, fighting once again with ruthless vengeance, he is unprepared to face a new kind of tragedy. When Tohr begins to see his beloved in his dreams - trapped in a cold, isolated netherworld far from the peace and tranquility of the Fade - he turns to the angel in hopes of saving the one he has lost.

If you could sum up Lover Reborn in three words, what would they be?

    Thrilling, heart-breaking, addictive!

What did you like best about this story?

The twists and turnsThe development of characters (Lassiter) and relationships: John & Xhex, Xhex & Autumn, and of course, Blay & Qhuinn!

Have you listened to any of Jim Frangione’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first audio book and thus, my first JF performance. It was odd hearing the words at first, because I had read the book previously. It took some getting used to the tempo (felt slow initially) and the voice, especially during dialogue where females spoke. Now I love JF's voice and really look forward to hearing it in the car. I've since bought two more JF narrations of Black Dagger Brotherhood books. Can't imagine driving along without JF reading to me!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Tohr is hugging Wellsie's silk wedding dress and mourning.
