A great story that is well read but unfortunately the quality of the recording is abysmal. There is a lot of background noise and the volume is erratic. This detracts from an excellent story.

I was delighted that Rincewind was finally rewarded with a return to UU and boredom. The sound quality was good and I enjoyed the gently probing into the cause and effect of creation. I shall forever be alert to the dangers of pineapples, prawns and letting wizards draw animals into being. The laying down of all the 'ground work' can be a little tedious but is essential for understanding when the pace starts galloping.

I usually loathe Sherlock Holmes and initially only downloaded this short because it was free. I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed the story especially when I listened to it side-by-side to another free short 'A Study in Emerald'.

Though not very deep, I enjoyed the chivalrous Dr. Watson's compassion for the duped heroine. Even the violin added to the tale's ambiance bringing Holmes and his fug of pipe smoke to life.

Since receiving TBI 5 years ago I have lost my ability to read so audible is my link to the world of literature. Thank-you so much for all the free shorts, I have everyone of them.

Tim Curry does a wonderful job narrating and I listened with mounting tension for the arrival of the Ghosts. I felt concern least someone really had made off with the Cratchet's Christmas pudding and delighted in Bob Cratchet's friend pretending to be 'blind' in order that he could sneak a kiss from the 'plump sister' when he had finally caught her.

I beautiful story, well read and evoking the real importance of Christmas.

This is a remake so the sound quality is MUCH better and the story is told in it's correct sequence. I enjoyed re-visiting Lancre meeting Oats who appears later in Unseen Academicals.

Though people have complained about the request not to pirate his work I believe that TP has every right to make that polite request & that it is very easy to simply fast forward if you do not want to listen to it.

Why waste the opportunity to enjoy a good story just because the author asks you to respect his intellectual property?

The narrator does their best with material that is undecided about whether it is a serious mystery. The story opens well but the actions of Hamish Macbeth are unrealistic especially where he escapes from his arch Nemesis Blair, another police officer, who has kidnapped him.The conclusion where Macbeth connives to have Blair marry a prostitute as retribution is in my opinion ludicrous.

The author attempts to inject reality into her criminals by having them iterate a litany of factors that caused their warped psychology. This also detracts from what is basically a good murder mystery.

I really enjoyed 'A Dead Man in Istanbul' but was disappointed with this story. The narration is clear but flat as though the narrator is simply stating events for an insurance claim. The story line is much weaker and the clues difficult making the ending appear unrealistic as though the author has had enough of writing and suddenly decides to conclude the story. The ending is far too neat with no loose ends as the main character 'ties' everything up explaining away every happenstance.

The characters are stereo-typical and the narration makes them seem even more mundane and the actual investigation something that the author elects to allude to now and again.
