"Still a wonderful listen"
Though accustomed to the other wonderful narrator who has done all of the Mitford books, I still found this recording quite nice. I recommend both the book and the recorded performance.
"Hated the heroine"
I like Lisa Kleypas, but this one was a total miss for me. The heroine was not at all likable.
no
Same as usual
"Would really like it if narration wasn't tragic."
The book, yes. The recorded version, no.
She makes the main character downright grating and not likable. Her squeaky male voices for Tate and Bones are awful. Her overdramatic performance is tiring and terrible. It is a testament to Ms. Frost's writing that I was able to listen to Gilbert's migraine inducing performance.
"Didn't even finish listening"
It is an extreme rarity that I fail to finish listening to a book. I did not finish this one.
"So sad it ended!"
WARNING: Do not try to listen to this book if you have not read or listened to the rest of the OUTLANDER series. I have a feeling that some of those who had issues with this book did just that. It's impossible. Having said that, I certainly hope that Ms. Gabaldon does not plan on leaving us in limbo for very long. When's the next one coming!? Also, I love Ms. Porter's work in this series. Excellent!
"Great book, great narrator!"
I actually enjoyed this book more than the others in this series at least partially, if not totally, because of the narrator. I definitely liked her voice and style better than the narrator of "Bitten" from the same series. I'm so glad I purchased it.
"Welcome to Temptation"
The story was good but I really did not like the narrator at all.
"Honey Moon"
Did not enjoy this book as much as other SEP books. I had a hard time liking any of the main characters. They lacked the usual charm that goes along with the human foibles SEP usually creates in her characters.
"Ridiculously terrible."
Terrible. Dumb story, bad recording, an overall stinker! I'm glad I got it on special for $4.95 or I would be really unhappy.
