"Lore & Idess..."
I want to preface this by saying that I am totally in LOVE with this series. Larissa Ione has a fantastic imagination! She can make all the parts and players fall right into place just when you think there is no way it can or will work. And she does it so smoothly!
Angels and Demons and Death.. OH MY! Can an angel love a demon? Can a demon be good? Why would an angel protect a demon? These are all questions that Larissa Ione builds this installment on. We see all of the Demon brothers and their mates and children from the previous books. I really enjoy knowing what the others are doing and that they are all still a big part of the story.
In this book we meet Seminus Demon Lore and his twin sister Sin, Sin is the first and only female Seminus Demon every born, and Idess, an angel trying to ascend and get her wings. How these 3 come together is breathtakingly sexy and action packed! There is a lot of action in part 4 of the Demonica series, more than the last 2 I think, not as much sex, but when there *is*, it's HOT!
This is a "not to be missed" installment of this series, and a series I think best read in order.
Now, with that said, I'm listening to this series on audio books, and I have to ask.. why oh WHY would she have Paul Boehmer narrate this story!? I actually had to FORCE myself to listen to him! Odd pauses, drawn out words, odd accent, and when he tried to speak as a female character he sounded horrible and unbelievable. As a previous poster said, "the narrator almost makes you feel like your dad is reading it to you...". When this guy says "balls" it comes out "boohhhawwwls", and all the erotic, steamy, sex talk/scenes sound creepy in his voice. He just can't pull it off. I really can't stress enough how bad he is.
The first 2 audio books in this series had excellent narrators, the third book, in retrospect (and after listening to this guy), was okay. This one, unless you MUST listen to it on audio book, I'd suggest actually reading the book.
"Larissa Ione does it again!"
This book had a LOT of action, keeping me captivated and feeling like I was a part of it all. I listened to this book (the entire series so far) on audio book. While the story itself was excellent, the narrator left a lot to be desired. She reminded me of Shirley Temple as a child star when she was pouting and talking through pursed lips. I almost quit listening to the audio format and turned to my Nook, but I was painting and needed hands free, so I continued listening. She, Renee Raudman, didn't get any better, but I wasn't as irritated as the story progresses. I wish there were a way to give 4 stars to the story and -1 star for the narrator. But, I can't take off stars because of the narrator, that's just not fair to the author.
This book actually brought 2 couples together, you were hearing about 2 relationships blossoming throughout the whole book. Even though their stories intertwined, both were easily distinguishable. I was glad to see so much wrap up at the end of this book... and so glad to see there is still so much to be told.
Another great addition to the Demonica series. I'm in love with these brothers, and these characters, I can't wait to read the next book!
"Ohhh Yesss!"
I wasn't sure I would like this book/series since it was Demons.. I'm a vampire kinda gal. I loved Midnight Breed and Black Dagger Brotherhood, and I have to say the Demonica Series is right up there in the top three! I would consider this story to be paranormal erotica, not just PNR!
I decided to get it on audiobook instead of for my Nook, just to have "something to listen to" while I waited for the newest Lara Adrian book to come out. I was totally taken off guard at how much I enjoyed this book! I can't get enough!
There is a lot going on in this book, but the narration is perfect. She reminded me a lot of Hillary Huber, whom I love to listen to (and who narrates the second book), her inflections and timing are dead on.
I'm in love with this series and can't wait to move on to the next (audio)book! I think I'll also get the series on my NookColor!
