The story was fine but it is time for a new narrator for the Laurie King novels. Too much emotion with too little range. Pregnant pauses and falsetto emotion everywhere.
I rarely give a negative review but I am tortured by the narration of this series. If I hear one more misplaced pregnant pause I don't know what I will do. PLEASE! This series needs a new narrator.
I have been listening to audiobooks for over 25 years. This one is the best of the best. Story and narration goes perfectly together. I can't recommend it highly enough.
I have never taken the time to write a review before, but I enjoyed this story so much I felt compelled to spread the word. A compelling and entertaining story perfectly performed. I kept finding excuses to get in the car to hear more.
I typically REALLY enjoy Ellis Peters stories. This one is definately a cut below the rest. Sickeningly melodramatic with an absurd amount of hyperbole.
I have never written a negative review before, but I just can't allow someone else to make the same mistake I did by forcing myself to listen to the end. Where there portions I liked? Here and there but not nearly enough to make up for the time wasted on this book and the HORRIBLE ending.
Perhaps my expectations were too high. I did enjoy two of the stories. The rest left me feeling depressed and wondering, "Why am I doing this to myself?"
