    Both story and narration were superb.

    Unusual characters portrayed by narrator with humor and gusto.


    What does Daniel Weyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    My mind's ear would not have voice the characters so colorfully.


    Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    It was a "page turner," but fun to listen to over a course of weeks.

    What did you like best about A New Kind of War? What did you like least?

    The characters were fascinating and believable, the plot was subtle, the story involved a time in history about which I knew very little. I call this a "challenging listen," however, because at times I had a hard time following the story. It was a bit more work than entertainment for my rather unsophisticated taste.


    What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Agreeable.


    What does Dominic Mafham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Narration was delightful and captured a variety of accents that enhanced the characters.


    Do you think A New Kind of War needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    Yes, I'd be interested in following the characters in further adventures.

    Yes, if I would still be surprised by the twists and turns.

    Yes, the complex plot kept me guessing.


    What about Stephen Hogan’s performance did you like?

    The Irish accents were remarkable but almost transparent; very convincing and consistent, identifiable characters.


    Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The autopsies were gripping, not just gruesome.

    Another fantastic story in this series.

    Spies meet detective


    Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    The setting (almost entirely aboard ship) requires extra attention from the listener, and it makes the action more vivid.


    What does Frank Muller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    The various Russian and American accents bring the characters to life.


    Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    No, but I couldn't wait to keep listening.


    Any additional comments?

    Just about as good as it gets for an audiobook.
