One of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to.
In the Garden of Beasts. History lessons in the form of a novel really interest me. The reader gets to enjoy a book and an education.
This book was a great lesson in American history. Although it was mostly a sad part of US history it gave the reader some insight into the Black experience.
This classic story was not what I expected at all. I was enthralled from the first moments. It was part love story, part biblical story and a thriller throughout. The narrator was perfect. He kept my heart racing. My only regret is that I didn't read it many years ago.
Nothing to Eat.
The insight into what it's like to live in a country that does not know basic freedom.
North Koreans are starving to death under dictatorship.
This was a very sad yet informative look into life in North Korea. My hope is for the people to rise up and demand their freedom by any means necessary.
Very interesting story of politics and mayhem. This book shows that powerful men show no mercy when it comes to gaining and retaining power. The section describing the convention that nominated President Garfield is fascinating. Wow! If conventions today are that interesting, maybe more Americans would pay closer attention.Sadly, after President Garfield was shot by a madman, doctors had no real knowledge of how to treat a gunshot victim. The guessing game surrounding his treatment was painful to listen to. He could have been saved if his injury had occurred a few years later. Medical advances and technology were being developed as he suffered. But it was too late to save him. It was sad because by all accounts President Garfield was a good and honorable man.
The Warmth of Other Suns gives a good history lesson and it's easy to see how times have changed so dramatically.
Doctors can kill you!
The parts involving Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell were fascinating. The history surrounding their inventions in light of the times was good to learn about.
Yes. It provided an excellent history lesson of what happened during the Third Reich. It provided an understanding of why the German government made those terrible.decisions. They were seeking to restore Germany's prominence on the world stage at any cost. The way the story is told through the Dodd family put the story in a more human perspective versus reading about it in a history textbook.
Martha Dodd was my favorite character. Although I don't agree with her lifestyle choices, she was the most colorful of characters.
Since the book was written as a novel rather than a documentary, it really gave me a better understanding of that era in world history.
The Help. I like books that have the potential to become movies.
The book was fun and fast paced.
No. I've heard some of the
Yes. The power of positive thinking is always a good lesson.
I like him as a preacher so I appreicated hearing his book in his own voice.
I enjoyed it.
