Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

These books were terrible at so many levels. Bad writing, no good grammar, syntax sucks, all in the present tense. Bad character development, none actually and the main character is just a sour, angry, weak personality. Not very likely that someone with a character like that would become a hero or a leader. Bad plot development, especially in book 2 and 3. I had to reread some chapters because it wasn't clear what had happened almost as if chapters had been ripped out of the book. It is clear that the author is a screen writer, because that is what the books are written for a movie; a bad movie!

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena live, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge....

Would you try another book from Suzanne Collins and/or Carolyn McCormick?

Psychiatrist Andrew Marlowe has a perfectly ordered life--solitary, perhaps, but full of devotion to his profession and the painting hobby he loves. This order is destroyed when renowned painter Robert Oliver attacks a canvas in the National Gallery of Art and becomes his patient. In response, Marlowe finds himself going beyond his own legal and ethical boundaries to understand the secret that torments this genius, a journey that will lead him into the lives of the women closest to Robert Oliver.

The Swan Thieves draws you in from the beginning. It totally transported me to the world of painters now and in the late 19th century France. Elizabeth Kostova knows how to tell a story, how to engage the reader and her style that is of a painter. She paints the characters and landscapes and you feel you can actually see them. Make sure you have nothing else to do that is urgent. You can't put this book down!
