"Not what I expected, but pretty darn good anyway"
I loved the Magic series and was looking forward to this book. While it wasn't what I had expected, I found myself enjoying the characters and the way the authors put you into the scenes so that you could feel the air. I loved the boys Jack and Georgie and Rose's love and commitment to them. I also enoyed this story as it at times felt like a historical romances that I used to read in high school. The strong rugged hero, Declan, and the not so much damsel in distress, Rose.
This book has all the classic good vs evil, with all kinds of twists. Throw in the crazy animals and grandparents and it is a good listen. Like I said in the title, I liked it.
"This is really pretty good."
I enjoyed this book when I read it a few years ago, but wanted to start the series. Narrator is good, the book does drag a times. But for the most part I enjoyed it. I may read the series as I'm not sure if it is really worth my credits. 8hrs seems like a waste of a credit.
"Its ok"
I thought this would be a little different from the other books of its genre, but its not. I just couldn't get into it.
"I love this series!"
While it maybe written more for kids or young adults, it is a great listen without being preachy. Simple life lessons that make sense. Just enjoy the story.
"James Rollins never fails to tell an exciting tale"
All of our favorite characters from Sigma Force are here in another adventure to save the world. Twists and unexpected turns are the norm and are never predictable! Love this book. But then I love all James Rollins's books.
"Excellent listen!!"
This book has more twists and turns than the canyons the characters have to travel through. A terrific adventure through our beautiful Southwest. Preston and Child are great together!! Enjoy!!
"Completely different"
This book was surprisingly different from everyother fantasy book I've listened too. The characters are fresh and bold. The narrator gets all the voices right. It doesn't take long to get absorbed into the story. Well worth the credit.
"How utterly disappointing."
I truely loved the Mortal Instruments so much, that I have listened to all three books twice! But this book, is so incredibly slow and melodramatic that it is a chore just to listen to it. The narrator isn't not the best I've ever listened to. She gets her accents mixed up when switching from character to character. The only good part of the book is Magnus Bane. I loved the character in the other books and he is the only thing saving this one. Cassandra Clare is trying too hard with this story. She is trying to turn these new people into the same ones in the past books and it just doesn't work. The whole story just stinks.
"Another excellent adventure by Preston & Child"
Preston & Child are so good together that each book is an adventure onto itself. The twist, turns and suprises are never predictible and always exciting. This book is a wonderful way to loose yourself for hours! Enjoy.
"A great thrill ride!!"
I read this book a few years ago and loved it. To find it finally on audio, well I just had to listen. It was as good the second time as it was the first! Preston and Child are good separately but are fantastic together. I'm going to have to listen to all of the books I read years ago just to get those thrill rides.
The only thing is I wish the narrator would add a little more excitement to his voice. He comes off as monotone. But the story is excellent!
"I'm disappointed, the story was flat."
Like many, many others, I was really looking forward to this 4th book. Unfortunatly, it is nowhere near as good as the first 3. There was way too much angst, a really flat storyline and even the narrator, Renee Raudman, who was excellent in the others, was flat. This book showed flashes of the other books, but didn't go far enough. The battles were also not as good as the others.
The good thing is that the story isn't finished, so maybe the next book will be better and will wrap the whole story up.
