  • Worlds of Honor: Worlds of Honor #2

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 2 mins)

David Weber himself here contributes three never-before-published excursions into Honor's world, among them the story of how she first discovered her own inner strength and courage; and a chapter in the history of the telepathic treecats, who form a bond with their chosen human that can only be severed by death.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story was ok ... barely, but the naration was teeth grindingly, nails on the chalkboard bad. Nearly the whole tale was read in a way over the top dramatic breathy voice that seems perpetually on the verge of tears. Just thinking about it so I can describe it is making me cringe. I think I will be staying away from anything written by Linda Evans or narrated by Kevin Collins.

The other stories are all good, entertaining, fun, etc. They are pretty much what you would hope for and expect from the universe that gave us Honor Harrington. I would say "Get the book but be prepared with the fast forward button."

Echoes of the ancients' power are distant memories, tattered and faded by the passage of eons, but that is about to change. A new dawn has arrived. Latent abilities, harbored in mankind's deepest fibers, wait to be unleashed. Ancient evils awaken, and old fears ignite the fires of war. In times such as these, ordinary people have the power to save the world...or destroy it.

    "Excruciating"
    Overall

This was the most painful listen I have ever experienced. Adolescent comes to mind as a good descriptive word and not due to the content but rather due to the skill of the author. As far as the narrator (also the author), it seems that as far as pronunciation goes he has only a passing aquantaince with the english language.
