I listened to the first 2 books by checking them out through my local library. Wanted to see if this book would "pull" the story together. Couldn't finish it though. Seems like much of this book is simple repetition of what has been written in the previous 2 novels. Irritating. And so disappointing since in the past I have enjoyed this author's writing. Since then I have listened to 2 other fantasy novels which leaves this series in the dust. First, The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss and second, Chronicles of Siala by Alexey Pehov. I feel both are well constructed fantasy and better stories then this series. The narrator was OK; not much he could do to improve this novel. FYI: I am a female lover of fantasy fiction
This story had promise but it is written as if the author had other things on her mind and just had to "throw something together". It needed to be at least twice as long to do the story and characters justice. Not worth the money at any price.
This was a most enjoyable audiobook. I really liked the concept of strong female characters. It is about the consequences individuals and societies must deal with as a result of their actions. A cautionary fable set in a fantasy/medieval setting. Since I mostly enjoy fantasy and historical fiction this was just the right type of story for me. The narrators where a delight to my ears. Perhaps the authors will continue with episodic chapters in this story, building on the stories of other characters, since the story does seem to be not quite finished.
