Abby Craden does a much better job on this than Juanita Parker. Parker always sounds like she's reading to children.
I think I've read or listened to all but a couple of the Scanguards stories. As usual, once I started, I couldn't stop listening to this one. While I wanted to shake Cain a few times and say 'use your brain' he came through in the end. Hope we eventually see a book devoted to Haven's brother. You can't help but love him. And of course, we know we haven't seen the last of Abel.
While not my favorite of the Scanguards stories (Zane will always be my favorite), I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter of the saga. Keep them coming.
The story wasn't bad, but as a lifelong hockey fan, a couple of things were like nails on a blackboard. The accents were bad to start with, but Patrick Roy's name does not match the Roy in Roy Rogers, and Vezina does not rhyme with Messina. The accent is on the first syllable, not the second. Those jolted my ear enough that I actually had to stop, back up and listen again to be sure what I was hearing.
This is what happens when a writer drags out a series. Sookie should have been put to rest a few books back. Publishers do their authors and readers a disservice when they try to extend a series just because it's selling well. Harris just plain ran out of steam. Too many characters and plot elements were brought in without good reason. Too many things were predictable. Characters were not true to their prior behavior. I should have saved my money on this one.
Elizabeth Livingston = Hillary Huber. Thought the voice was familiar, so I went back to compare to one of Lara Adrian's books. Same voice.
