There were parts of this book I really liked, but it did get slow in some areas. There is also this wierd thing done between chapters where headlines are used. This make look interesting in print form, but for me it did not transfer to this format well.
As a geek and map lover- this was a fun book to read over break. I learned a few new things, but just as importantly got to have the moments of " it is not just me". I recommend this to anyone who likes maps or watches the weather channel for fun.
I was a little disappointed at how narrow the scope of the argumentation were. Although I think he made many good points, I felt it was also filled with holes that I never found to be fully addressed. The biggest of these was equating small group interactions with grand scale economies.
This book broke my heart-- but like all reality checks must be listened to. Not only does he clearly explain why Coke has had the problems they have, but also gives a great primer into what is wrong with American companies. Should be a must read for students in business, politics, marketing and social science (along with a few others). I may use this in my class.
