Yes. I've read several of Lorraine Heath's books and enjoyed them. This one was the worst one yet.
Anything by Suzanne Elizabeth Phillips which are more consistent.
Susan Erickson was ok but the material she had to work with was really bad.
Disappointment and disgust that I wasted the credit.
Eric Conger's narration is superb. He IS Virgil. The story is full of humor and fast paced. I enjoyed the story so much I was sad when it ended. I wanted to keep hearing about Johnson Johnson and all of Virgil's friends and co-workers. The body count was high but each progression of the story made sense and added to the drama. Some of the absurdities rang so true you just know they could happen in real life.
John Sandford can't write often or fast enough to keep me satisfied, I want to hear more about the world he has created in Minnesota. Lazy fishing days, stupid criminals and sexy men and women. Keep writing John!
I would. I found myself laughing out loud at points. I seriously enjoyed this story after having read/listened to the other two books.
I enjoy Kate Reading's voice and characterizations. She is a true professional. She did particularly well with this series. Her French is very good.
No. Although I enjoyed the story a great deal I think the audio book was ruined by the narrator. I would certainly recommend the book.
The first time Rose kisses Thomas was memorable. The description of the reasons for each persons passion for the other. Thomas' heartfelt attempts to be a better person than he was in previous stories.
I would as long as it wasn't a romance which requires his attempting female voices. I think he would be very good with a procedural or murder mystery. He has a very deep voice which you would think would be good for romance novels but his phrasing and female voices are atrocious. Romance novels are not his forte.
When Thomas realizes what the new meaning his life could be if he only dares to reach for it
I enjoy Courtney Milan's Turner series very much. I read these when they first came out and wanted the Audible versions.
Smite Turner is my favorite character because he is flawed yet an honorable person.
Simon Prebble or Rosalyn Landor. Nicole Quinn's voice is too old sounding and has too many flaws. I kept wanting to ask her to clear out the phlegm.
When Smite tells Miranda about his childhood
I am a long time fan of Stephanie Laurens and would certainly purchase another book of hers. McCallister Lee on the other hand doesn't have the voice or timing necessary to be a good narrator.
I couldn't finish the story due to the very bad narration. I'm going to purchase the Kindle version to better appreciate Stephanie's writing.
McCallister's voice is not suited to the characters. Her attempts to voice the english accent and many different voices were horrible. Her timing is off. It was like trying to listen to a child read a story.
Not the Audible version
I bought this thru my Kindle instead of the website. If I had it to do over I would have waited until I could connect to the website, read the other reviews and listened to the sample. I was so excited about buying a Stephanie Laurens book that I bought too soon
The narrator's attempts at male voices was hard to get past. The story needed more action as well.
Glimpses into prior characters ongoing lives was fascinating. The least was the narrators male voices sounded like hillbillies. Sarah's stories are usually so erotic and romantic but it is hard to feel that way when the voices turn you off.
The choice of a female narrator reading a male dominated story is truly unfortunate. Especially when most of the males sound the same and only slightly different from the females. They sounded like they were from hills of Tennessee not Texas.
If it had been read by Jason Adams from Sam's Creed or Zoe Winslow from Caine's Reckoning. They brought the stories to life.
Michael Page is a good narrator just not the appropriate narrator for this story. The other reviews are correct. All the male characters sound like a bad British comedy. Overly exaggerated snooty tones and none of them sound age appropriate.
However, the story itself is good if somewhat formulaic. .
