    Story
Where does Carnal Innocence rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's probably in the top 10

What was one of the most memorable moments of Carnal Innocence?

I liked when Caroline came into the library and discovered there was more to Tucker than she'd first thought.

What about Tom Stechschulte’s performance did you like?

I love love love Tucker's voice. It's entirely possible it's the sexiest voice I've ever heard.

If you could take any character from Carnal Innocence out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Tucker, partly just to listen to him talk, and partly because of his easy-going intelligence.

    Any additional comments?

My second Nora Roberts listen. Even though I had figured out who the killer was, I'm a fan.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would have appreciated some motive for the murders.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'll probably return to the In Death series.

What about Gildart Jackson’s performance did you like?

    The crisp, sonorous tone.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Under no circumstances.

    Any additional comments?

I kept listening, hoping something would "click" -- some inkling of why this elaborate set-up was created & why these apparently random people were killed. Never happened.

The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires.... From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I also saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside - so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat. No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I enjoyed the first two in the series, and was looking forward to the insights and conclusion that this book promised. Apparently Sylvia Day did not respect the intelligence of her audience enough to deliver what she had promised. This is NOT the conclusion. There are more episodes to follow. I resent the feeling that our loyalty to the series was exploited. I will not be buying any more in this series.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

    Conclude it as promised.

What does Jill Redfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She was an enjoyable narrator. I probably listened to the book for longer periods than I would have read in book form.

Did Entwined With You inspire you to do anything?

Not really. Reflected in You, on the other hand ...

Ptolemy Grey is 91 years old and has been all but forgotten - by his family, his friends, even himself - as he sinks into a lonely dementia. His grand-nephew, Ptolemy's only connection to the outside world, was recently killed in a drive-by shooting, and Ptolemy is too suspicious of anyone else to allow them into his life, until he meets Robyn, his niece's 17-year-old lodger and the only one willing to take care of an old man at his grandnephew's funeral.

Would you listen to The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey again? Why?

I have already listened to it at least 6 times.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love the main character, Ptolemy

Have you listened to any of Dominic Hoffman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, this is the only one. I like him, but it's the story and the character that captured me.

    Any additional comments?

Some parts of the story are vividly violent, and the language is authentic if you're sqeamish, but in the service of a brilliantly crafted story of an old man given the ability to make sense of his long life. My college-aged son found the pace of the story too slow, but I just went with it, and the main character got under my skin. Ptolemy has become part of my life.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend it. The story, the author's voice and the length were perfect. It felt like I was listening to her talk over dinner.

What other book might you compare This Is the Story of a Happy Marriage to and why?

    Can't think of one.

What about Ann Patchett’s performance did you like?

It sounded like we were in a conversation -- she was ironic, laugh-out-loud funny and managed to convey a sense of wonder with no mushiness at all.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud more than once and found tears leaking out at the end.

    Any additional comments?

This audiobook has inspired thousands of people around the world to find a sense of purpose and belonging. It asserts that life is not a battle but a game of giving and receiving, and that whatever we send out into the world will eventually be returned to us. This little book will help you discover how your mind and its imaging faculties play leading roles in the game of life.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator read way too fast. I would probably have a different narrator.

How could the performance have been better?

It could have been slower, allowing the listener to think about what was being said.

Did The Game of Life and How to Play It inspire you to do anything?

I loved the book, which I read years ago and now have on my Kindle. It inspires me to be more intentional in my thoughts, words and actions.

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority.

If you could sum up The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest in three words, what would they be?

    Gripping page-turner

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Lisbeth Salander

What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?

I appreciated his comfort with Swedish names that would have been very distracting to read (I tried it on my Kindle, and WAY preferred listening to him.)

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    The Phoenix Rises

    Any additional comments?

Though not a stand-alone, this was probably every bit as good as Dragon Tattoo.
