Attention Folks. This is a true & true chick lit and some maybe put off by its 'chick litness'.
I've listened and relistened, and relistened to this simple story that has been well written and well told. Its definitely a beach/holiday listen, easy on the ear.
Probably what I liked best was the ability of emma darcy to tell the story from both sides: that of the female and male characters. Modern romances writers rarelly write this way...it is always about the woman...does he love me, does he not...oh plse!!! Surely this male must have thoughts & feelings as well.
Anyway well done emma darcy, this is not your normal norm. I did enjoy losing myself for 5 hrs without too much of the heavy drama dramas.
great easy on the ear chick lit book.
This audiobook ranks highly among the many books I have listened to. The storyline was enhanced by the exceptional reading of the narrator who switched between dialects with supreme ease that made the story 'real' and brought it 'alive'.
The narrator captured ones interest in the story right from the beginning of the first chapter as she described Ayesha and her daughters escape from a life of pain. I thought I could actually hear Ayesha's heart thumping!!
In the first chapter the hushed tone Rita used as she described their escape made me believe i was there watching & listening for the creak of the stair board. Rita's change between characters also made each of them real.
Would never want to belittle the exceptional writing of the author by renaming her book.
Ive looked to see if the author has any other audible books....but alas...no.
Great book Carole Matthews...with love..!!
This is another easy book to listen to and I've listened to it 2 or 3 times since. I like Helen Bianchin as a romance author.
The narrator did a very good job of this. Helen Bianchin has another audiobook which I won't buy as the narrating seems to be over the top in dramatics. Susan Lyons with her Australian accent adds a touch of 'Australianism' to the book and was very enjoyable. Will look out for her in future.
No great romantic dramas but this was well written & well narrated
Don't be deceived that this is another run of the mill M&B. It is...but with a difference. The story line is easy on the ear with minimal romantic drama as per many others. Its told from both sides of the love requited and does not go overboard on the theatrics as some writers tend to do
The narrator did a very good narrate and her switch between characters easily identifiable with only slight changes to her monotone. Some may be put off by this, however, it beats those who try to emulate european accents which often puts a damper on a book. Well done Rebecca. Im not going to listen to the other M&B you have narrated.
I spent a day on the beach listening to this story, it was an enyoyable way to lose myself for a few hours
high among the audio books ive purchased
dick smith does an excellent job of narrating & draws the reader into story through strong character voices
