Keith Stewart, a retiring and ingenious engineer, could not have been happier in his little house in the shabby London suburb of Ealing. There he invented the mini-motor, the six-volt generator, and the tiny Congreve clock. Then a chain of events sweeps him into deep waters and leads him to his happiest discovery yet.

I liked this book. I didn't love it, but it was a good read/listen...entertaining, perhaps a bit predictable, but the characters were likable and I enjoyed it.

When Arlene Fleet heads up north for college, she makes three promises to God: She will stop fornicating with every boy who crosses her path; never tell another lie; and never, ever go back to the "fourth rack of hell", her hometown of Possett, Alabama. All she wants from Him is one little miracle: make sure the body is never found.

I had been listening to a few classics and was looking for some easier listening, so I got this book. Boy, was that a mistake. I really didn't like this book. I made myself finish it because it was short and because I hate not finishing a book. I didn't like the writing. I didn't care about the characters. I thought the story contrived and unrealistic. I didn't like the narrator; there were times when she was reading a conversation that I had no idea which character was speaking. I thought the music was distracting and creepy. I am obviously in the minority because so many people liked it, but I would not recommend it!

After a sad and neglected childhood as an orphan, Jane Eyre was hired by Edward Rochester as governess for his ward. Jane was pleased with the quiet country life at Thornfield, with the beautiful old manor house and gardens, with the book-filled library, and with her own comfortable room. But there were stories of a strange tenant, a woman who laughed like a maniac, and who stayed in rooms on the third floor.

I loved this! For some reason I had never read Jane Eyre. I think I liked it better for listening to it. The reader used a nice voice. I really enjoyed this book~

I enjoyed this book. I like historical fiction type writing...and while this didn't include a ton of history, there were cultural elements that I found educational. I liked the readers accent...I thought it really added to the story.

In this epic, beautifully written masterwork, Pulitzer Prize–winning author Isabel Wilkerson chronicles one of the great untold stories of American history: the decades-long migration of black citizens who fled the South for northern and western cities in search of a better life. From 1915 to 1970, this exodus of almost six million people changed the face of America. Wilkerson interviewed more than a thousand people, and gained access to previously untapped data and official records, to write this definitive and vividly dramatic account of how these American journeys unfolded, altering our cities, our country, and ourselves.

I felt like this dragged on and on. And repetitive! Oh my. I did learn things and for that reasons I'm glad I listened and finished it. But I didn't love the writing and found the repetitiveness insulting.
