I have read this book a couple times since the late '80s and it has never become stale. Now that I can hear it, I am in heaven. The fact that I can listen to the entire series is more than I could have hoped for.
Ben Bova has given us so many new ideas and the possibilities are inifinite. Just imagine what if...
Rick Holmes. Having 2 narrators was bad enough. But the guy doing Jaime's part was horrible. His Scots accent was bearable at best. He would drift into Irish occasionally. Even that was muffled and garbled. He would have been better playing Lord John because he was entirely too effeminate for Jaime. Wish I would have purchased print instead
Lord John - This shows a much more fun loving and personable character than the Outlander books. He is great in those as well, but this is nice. Comfortable
Only 1 narrator - Jeff Woodman
Not really. The story itself was worth it. The narration was too distracting. I nearly gave up on it because of that.
Buy it in print.
All of Molly Harper's stories have me laughing and this was no exception. Her ability to create stories with strong female characters, sexy men and gut-busting one liners is amazing.
I wish the narrator had been Amanda Ronconi. She has done all of Ms. Harper's other books and has a feel for the characters. Amanda just has this delivery that makes the story so much richer. Sophie Eastlake did a good job, making it a very amusing listen.
The presentation was great. The sounds of the storms and sea were a very nice touch. It made the story have an entirely new dimension. The narrator and sounds made the story feel real and sucked you in.
The sound quality was horrific! I get better recording from my cell phone. It was like being in plane waiting for my ears to pop listening to someone with a cold in a can and then it was digitized.
The narrator must be new. She was pretty lifeless. However the best narrator in the world could not save the story with the recording.
Not sure. I really like the story, but didn't really care for the narrator. He spoke so slowly that I fortunately was able to speed it up so that he sounded normal.
There is a lot of detail, but trying to figure out where the story goes next is fun.
The sound quality changed occasionally so there were times I wasn't sure who it was. The most difficult part was that he read it so slowly.
Thank goodness for the ability to speed up the playback.
If there wasn't another book in the series with him narrating, I wouldn't listen to him. Mispronunciations as well as some truly hideous voices were distracting from the story.
I didn't get very far in this book. I remember loving the movie (35 +/- years ago) so I thought I would enjoy this. While some aspects of political correctness have gone too far, I was afraid that this would go far beyond what I would find acceptable. Using terms like coon and blacky for Africans was more than I could tolerate. I was afraid that the story might use the N word. I detest that one, and I am white.
While I realize that these terms were OK for the time it was written, it is not for the children of today when they should be taught tolerance and not to use hurtful and demeaning things.
Oh yes. This was one of the most amazing collection of erotica I have ever experienced. It made me so hot. Just listening was a delight to all the senses.
So many different perspectives makes for a potpourri of titilating imagination.

The Mercy Thompson world is one of my favorite series. This doesn't disappoint.
These characters are fabulous. They are fun, quirky, serious and you love them or love to hate them.
Mercy is of course the best. But Adam is a close second. The raw power and sexuality are felt in every word.
I went through and listened to all of them again before listening to this one. It took a while, but I found the correct order with the short stories and Alpha Omega. I look forward to more!
I just couldn't get into it. Character development was tedious at best. I really don't like a Literature lesson when I read Fiction. An hour in and I was done. I tried to give it a chance but I couldn't do it. Just get to the story already.
