Twenty-seven-year-old Josey Cirrini is sure of three things: winter in her North Carolina hometown is her favorite season, she's a sorry excuse for a Southern belle, and sweets are best eaten in the privacy of her hidden closet. For while Josey has settled into an uneventful life in her mother's house, her one consolation is the stockpile of sugary treats and paperback romances she escapes to each night.

What did you like best about The Sugar Queen? What did you like least?

I liked the magical realism, and the use the main character makes of candy.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The romance was unconvincing. The main character seemed too weak-willed to be convincing. I really liked the use of candy. ;-)

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I felt like her interpretation of the story was different than what I would have thought about the novel. That was interesting.

Did The Sugar Queen inspire you to do anything?

    Nope.

    Any additional comments?

I loved Garden Spells, which is why I bought this one.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Clash of Kings to be better than the print version?

Not, but certainly nice to listen to.

What other book might you compare A Clash of Kings to and why?

Lord of the Rings, Epic fantasy, great character development

What about Roy Dotrice’s performance did you like?

I thought he was enjoying the performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Winter is coming.
