Pastry chef Tess Crawford thought moving from Chicago to quiet Silver Springs, Arizona would simplify her life. That was before she found the body of a woman with whom she had traded heated words the previous night, left her fingerprints on the murder weapon, and came under attack for trying to clear her name.

They say a painting can have a life of its own... In the case of Ghosts in the Mind by Henry Sebastian Hubert, that’s more than just an expression. This painting is reputed to come to life - and to bring death. Wherever it goes, death seems to follow. Danielle Cafferty and Michael Quinn, occasional partners in solving crime, are quickly drawn into the case.

It was stolen from a New Orleans grave - the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. It’s an object desired by collectors - and by those with wickedness in their hearts. One day, its current owner shows up at Danni Cafferty’s antiques shop on Royal Street, the shop she inherited from her father. But before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears, the owner is found dead…and Danni discovers that she’s inherited much more than she realized. In the store is a book filled with secret writing: instructions for defeating evil entities.

Every year, the average American eats 33 pounds of cheese (triple what we ate in 1970) and 70 pounds of sugar (about 22 teaspoons a day). We ingest 8,500 milligrams of salt a day, double the recommended amount, and almost none of that comes from the shakers on our table. It comes from processed food. It’s no wonder, then, that one in three adults, and one in five kids, is clinically obese.

Would you consider the audio edition of Destined for an Early Grave to be better than the print version?

Yes, much better because the characters really come to life! The characters have great personalities! I found this series by accident and devoured the whole series in a week! Even if you are not a supernatural fan, you will enjoy this series. I will be glad when the next book is released. In the interim I've read the Night Huntress World Series and it's superb!!

The Elemental Magic series because both have strong characters and they are busy helping the underdog!

What does Tavia Gilbert bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Bring the characters to life! She is great!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Vlad made me laugh and so did Ian! Her mother is funny also--she calls all the vampires blood suckers, etc.-- forgetting she is one of them!

Since the introduction of dietary guidelines calling for reduced fat intake in the 1970s, a strange phenomenon has occurred: Americans have steadily, inexorably become heavier, less healthy, and more prone to diabetes than ever before. After putting more than two thousand of his at-risk patients on a wheat-free regimen and seeing extraordinary results, cardiologist William Davis has come to the disturbing conclusion that it is not fat, not sugar, not our sedentary lifestyle that is causing America’s obesity epidemic—it is wheat.

Would you listen to Wheat Belly again? Why?

This book is so enlightening regarding why the current obesity rate in this country is out of control. It is sad how diabetes and its complications are killing us and very few people in the know are really speaking out and alerting us as to what we can do to save ourselves!! It is tragic the greed of large corporations with genetically engineered food and the impact that has own our lives. When I became an RN in 1982, diabetes was not that common, now it seems like a rite of passage to adulthood when it shouldn't be.
Thank you Dr. Davis for sounding the alarm!!

What other book might you compare Wheat Belly to and why?

The Paleo Answer, Why We Get Fat, and The Primal Blueprint

What does Tom Weiner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It is easier to multi-task while listening. It is like a 3-D experience!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Know the Truth and Live!
